Congress does bot have carte blanche authority to investigate anything they choose. Courts have ruled many times that congressional investigations must be limited to legislative activities and presumably have some evident cause. The House can certainly investigate the process that the administration followed for COVID-19 -- at least that is Pelosi's cover. But her investigation raises serious eyebrows because 1) its connection with legislative activities is unclear (though possible), 2) a normal legislative investigation in no way calls for a Select Committee, and 3) it smells fishy since Pelosi was entirely focused on impeachment and couldn't have cared less about COVID-19 when it first appeared.

 

By properly doing his job.

Did you really think that Trump's response to the Covid-19 event - which will result in thousands of US Citizen's deaths and
trillions of dollars and the shut-down of the US economy WOULDN'T be investigated? If for no other reason than
to determine what should be done for the next virus ... really?

So answer me this, what are democrats doing to help Americans with this?

 

We will need to look at policy and procedure to help us better prepare for the NEXT virus outbreak. Maybe we'll
take them more seriously in the future as we seem to be having them about every 10 years. It would be a tremendous help to all Americans to have a better understanding of the process so we can elect officials who take preparation more seriously.
If the H1N1 response had been part of the dialogue during the Obama/Romney debates, we would have been in better shape
for this event.

 

So basically nothing, except that stunt they pulled holding up the aid checks to advance a completely, unrelated agenda.

 

The only thing holding up aid checks is the dismembered Federal Bureaucracy that Trump is in charge of ...

How about the CDC's testimony before Congress 2/27, 3/3 and 3/4?

 

In any response of an organization to any crisis, a reflective review has value in assessing preparations, strategic plans, resource use, organization structure, and those elements that had positive or negative impact on crisis response for identification of what can be improved to meet any future crisis, and provide recommendations for potential improvement. I am an advocate for individual or collective reflection for that purpose.
However, based on the preceding three years of partisan investigations, the House Committee’s purpose is a partisan effort that will bias not toward a future collective improvement, rather than to a search for factors of failure or factors that contributed to any less than optimal response to lay blame on the current administration for the purpose of laying blame for partisan gain in advocating improvement in future crisis preparedness is a regime change. In part, what will be ignored, is how the crisis response was shaped by the strategic planning, and other elements of preparedness that were largely product of multiple preceding administrations. The committee will not have a purpose of making recommendations for improvements of preparedness, but will be looking for opportunity and support for a pre-ordained conclusion; The Administration, and therefore, Trump failed. It’s an attempt to shape American frustration with the tragedies and inconveniences resulting from the pandemic into blaming one face representing the cause.

 

The Benghazi investigation began May 2, 2014 and ended December 12, 2016 when the final report was issued. The first hearing was not until September as the Democrats were objecting to not having equal respresentation, they were the minority and WH participation was negotiated. It took until October of 2016 to get Clinton before the committee and of course the disclosure of her secret shadow email server where she was illegally storing classified information and her destroying vital communication records added to the time needed to investigate.

So would not advise you use that scandal as your measure here.
