We're just one day away from a government shutdown as Republicans desperately work to find the votes for a stop-gap spending measure on Capitol Hill. All week, Democrats have been pointing fingers at GOP lawmakers and arguing if a government shutdown does in fact happen, it will be all their fault.

But according to a Democrat aide who spoke to NBC News, the goal is for Democrats to come up with enough votes to stop the funding measure from going through. In other words, they just admitted their goal is to shutdown the government, not to avert it as they've been claiming. They've also put the brakes on any kind of compromise that doesn't include amnesty for illegal aliens currently covered by DACA.

JUST IN: Democrats have enough votes to block the spending bill in the Senate and prevent Republicans from keeping the government up and running, senior Democratic aide tells @NBCNews

    2:50 PM - Jan 18, 2018

"The President certainly doesn't want a shutdown, and if one happens I think you only have one place to look and that's to the Democrats who are holding our military and our national security hostage by trying to push through other policies that have nothing to do with the budget," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said during the briefing Wednesday. "It takes 60 votes, and Republicans don't have 60 votes. So Democrats either need to decide that they're going to come here to do their jobs, and they're going to govern, and they're going to put our national security ahead of their own personal, political agendas, or they're not. It's really simple.".....snip~

My my my.....NBC sets out the Demos and its just as Ryan, McConnell and Trump says. The Democrats are the ones shutting down the Government. Looks like the Demos caved to their donors and their base along with Antifa. What say ye?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday that despite months of intense debate over immigration legislation, President Donald Trump has not made clear what he wants in a final bill, one that he would sign into law.

"I'm looking for something that President Trump supports. And he's not yet indicated what measure he's willing to sign," McConnell said at a Capitol Hill news conference. "As soon as we figure out what he is for, then I would be convinced that we were not just spinning our wheels going to this issue on the floor, but actually dealing with a bill that has a chance to become law and therefore solve the problem."

Absolutely no question. Schumer is working with the left's media partners to spin any shutdown on Republicans. Of course the massive media apparatus partnering with the left will be more than happy to do so.

The House did their job, but Schumer apparently thinks he can blackmail the Senate to act as he demands, without taking any blame.

My only concern is that Republicans in the Senate historically have not shown they have the Brass to get in front of the press and blow the Dems out of the water with facts.

Should Schumer and the Democrats chose to shut down the Government, cut off pay to the military, etc., they better release the hounds, because the press is not going to help them spread the truth.

when republicans held the government hostage a few years back, i gave them hell. This is worse as its over illegal immigration and the hypocrisy is just too much.

pls see Chuck Schumer's hypocrisy at 1:10m below:

    Chuck Schumer back in 2013:

'It's sort of like this, someone takes your wife and children hostage and then asks you to negotiate over price of your house. We could do the same with immigration, we could refuse to raise debt ceiling if we don't get what we want but this would be governmental chaos!'

and look at him now, what depravity.

The House did their job, Senate Republicans have done theirs. And Schumer and the Democrats are trying to blackmail the Republicans. Schumer and the Dems in the Senate attached to his leash are the ones responsible should a shutdown occur.

So what are you trying to suggest by posting this article? There doesn't appear to be anything relative to what is going on.

Yeah, dems keep relying on the massive media apparatus to spread their lies, HOWEVER, the media has fallen to ALL TIME LOWS of TRUST by the people. Whatever they do won't work and hasn't worked since the 2016 election.

I'm looking forward to the release of a memo by the House Intel Committee that will start the process of putting some bureaucrats in prison, for starters.

To late now for the Demos and their mouthpieces the Lame Stream.....Schumer admitted they will block what the House passed.

    9:35 p.m.

Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says Senate Democrats would support a "very short-term" government-wide funding bill to avert a shutdown.

The New York Democrat says his party would accept a stopgap funding bill to keep the government open for a few days to buy time to "get the job done" in talks on immigration legislation.

But he says a House-passed spending bill that would keep the government open for another month would merely "kick the can down the road," and says Democrats will block it.....snip~

The Demos have been caught.....making demands and they even added CHIP up into the Mix. Trump said CHIP should not be part of any StopGap measure nor any Immigration legislation.

Now the GOP and those on the Right can sit back and watch the Demos and their Cult following.....lie.

Then we can tell them Lie to us some more, Jerry. Lie.....its what they do best.

Schumer is holding the country hostage by trying to blackmail Republicans to include DACA in the spending authorization. Durbin proved there is no desire by Democrats to do anything about illegal immigration, perhaps because it will be the foundation of their campaign this year.

Bottom line, what does immigration legislation have to do with the need to authorize spending?

Is that what McConnell said Wednesday.....LMAO. Here is what he said Thursday night. :roflol:

    9:15 p.m.

The Senate's top Republican is blaming a potential government shutdown this weekend on Democratic demands for legislation to give protection against deportation to immigrants brought to the country illegally.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says demands by Democrats for a deal on these so-called "Dreamers" has "crowded out" the rest of the Senate's business, including keeping the government open.

The Kentucky Republican points out that during the most recent shutdown in 2013, top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer attacked Republicans for shutting the government down by demanding unrelated language to try to block implementation of then-President Barack Obama's health care law.

McConnell is citing a quote from 2013 in which Schumer said making demands for an immigration overhaul as a condition of keeping the government open would result in "chaos.".....snip~
