Temporary. Enjoy it while it lasts. Meanwhile, the whopping gigantic tax break our corporate overlords received is permanent, and many of our richest companies paid ZERO taxes last year. If that seems fair to you, keep voting Republican.

Corporations don't pay taxes. They pass them through to the customers in increased prices.

There's really no need to tax corporations at all when you can tax the people that ultimately own them. Would simplify things a lot.

"Simple" and "tax code" go together like pickles and ice cream. Maybe someday . . .

Must be new economics. It does not fit with any economic course I ever took.

The problem with that is that is not on top of their earned income. It is their only income and there is no more reason why it would be quickly made up than any other earned income.

No doubt. That was my masters degree, too, lol. S-corporations and Partnerships already pay no taxes. They're flow-through entities. The partners and s-corp shareholders pay the taxes on their share of the income.

My taxes have gone down. My investments are up over twenty thousand dollars from where they were prior to the virus. And that is with very conservative investments. Life is good.

It's perfectly okay. Why wouldn't it be?

You'd starve to death if you constantly ran a business at a loss. Taxes are an expense. Simple economics.

Democrats are full of crap. They have had the presidency and both houses of congress and didn't do diddly squat for the people. Empty promises is all they have.

Many doctors already have so many Medicare patients profitability is a problem. They stop taking new patients on Medicare to remain in business. A few years ago I wanted to switch primary physician for my mom who I had medical POA for. There were no doctors taking new Medicare patients in the area so we stayed with the old doctor until she went in hospice and could see their doctor. If a retiree on Medicare wanted to move to that town they likely couldn’t have found a doctor at all.

How nice for you. What about the rest of your fellow citizens? Screw 'em? I got mine, too bad for y'all?

I don't accept the premise that in order for me to win, someone else must lose. But I guess that's just me. And don't go thinking that this is bitterness on my part. I, too, am fortunate in that I don't have to depend on a paycheck any more. I just think that as a nation, we do a piss-poor job of taking care of our own.

    @Just A Man

Nothing bugs me more than people who say their goal is this but then everything they say they will do to accomplish that goal would only diminish their success. It leaves me feeling that they are all liars and charlatans.

Income tax is not a cost of operation. It's paid on profits.

Make businesses prove that when their taxes go up, if they don't raise prices they will go bankrupt. If not then no raise.

I don't accept the premise that for me to win someone else must lose, either..

You were saying how bad it was going to be for me because my taxes would go back up. I know my taxes will go up if Biden wins, because he said they would.

Like I said, I am doing very well. My success does not affect anyone else one iota except for a few other people in the family which we have helped out.

Income tax proves a company isn't bankrupt. If a company shows a loss, it owes no tax. I have no clue what the other poster is claiming. It makes no sense.

All I said was that taxes were a business expense. And if you raise taxes, business have to charge more money.

Income tax is not an operating expense. A refresher course on economics would help you, if you have time.

Funny, when my mother moved to TX, last Aug. she had no problem getting a doctor. Then when she move back to MA, this past May, once again had no problem getting a doctor.

It varies by type of doctor and the age of the doctors. Younger doctors that need to work will probably settle for less income, since they have to make their way through life.
This is a long-term problem that will gradually get worse the more and more you try to socialize medicine and dictate prices the market should ultimately be deciding.

No they can't. Healthcare is a commodity, as such it cannot be guaranteed, as its a matter of supply and demand, neither of which the government can control...
