Isn't it interesting that the DNC folks all ended up at the same place where NBC news ended up that all got to hang out with Jimmy Fallon and the cast of "Hamilton".... Coincidence??

    Well, I read it all..........

I knew all that stuff about business well before you were born. And while I studied it in graduate school, I've spent most of my life living in it, and with it.

You do not seem to understand that the CEO of a corporation serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. Donald Trump was never the subject of such accountability, having never worked in a corporate environment or been the actual CEO of a going public concern. As anyone can see, he does not wear accountability well.

As for types, Donald Trump came from a mom and pop. Admittedly, it has much larger numbers than most mom and pops, but it still a mom and pop. Many large regional commercial real estate companies are basically mom and pops, with the company totally controlled by one man or one family. I can think of several of them in my city. These people often have large portfolios and can be quite wealthy.

None the less, no corporation employs the family bookeeper as CEO, and they don't employ glorified ambulance chasers like Cohen.

I'm not sure why you would think that Democrats would want to form an alliance with the most racist, reactionary ,and least informed segment of the voting public, particularly one whose stated values are anathema to most decent people.

Especially since it has been the dedicated mission of every AM ex disc jockey, every Matt Drudge wannabe, and Fox Noise to promote the backward thinking of this cohort by acting as a mirror for their prejudices and ingnorance.

The far right has no allies. (their political leaders think compromise is a dirty word, and they are relegated to the status of noisy and quarrelsome minority according, so they don't have a lot of friends where it counts. This is the group that almost forced the US into default in the middle of the biggest financial collapse since 1929).

The uneasy relationship between the Limbaughloonies and the GOP predates the Tea Party. It pre dates you, for that matter.

The GOP has always played to right wing reactionaries and racists in recent years. That was the whole point of the southern strategy.

The GOP knows that the sort of person who gets their "news" from Breitbart, Limbaugh and Fox aren't very well informed and are thus easily led, as long as the message mirrors the world view of the reciever. The GOP also knows that many of these people see themselves as powerless in a world controlled by a "deep state". The deep state changes names every few years. But it always has a set of uniform characteristics. First, it is all powerful. Ordinary people (and by extension, their populist heroes) are powerless to deal with it. It has no indentifiable structure or leaders. And, there is almost always an elaborage conspiracy theory to describe it (again, which is subject to periodic change when it needs dressing up). The objective is the convince the audience that they should not expect any real results from the "nationalist" and "populist" candidates they support. Being in opposition is an end in itself, one which the GOP has occupied for over thirty years (they are so wedded to being in opposition that they are unable to govern when they do get the chance (as the last two years demonstrate)).

But this cohort has always been a serious problem for the GOP. It won't cooperate. It doesn't contribute anything constructive. While it is always easy to lead these folks with a meme, it's hard to get them to actually do much else. Most of them, like Trump himself, doesn't even vote regularly.

And the far right tea party crowd has always been the fly in the ointment of GOP politics. The GOP can't win and election without them, and it can't govern with them.

Far and away the best thing for Democrats is to leave the tea party mob to the GOP. The tea party dog has wagged the GOP tail repeated through several government shutdowns, all of which the reationary right cheer for. And all of which turn into major political defeats for the GOP.

This time is only different because the person leading the shutdown, is the reactionary right's lord and savior, Donald Trump.

Otherwise, the dynamics are exactly the same. The GOP now owns a government shutdown it doesn't want.

Trump betrayed McConnell, and now McConnell won't move to end the crisis until Trump publicy endorses a plan. GOP Senators are only too happy to hide behind McConnell's skirts too.

The noisy Trumpster minority is both clueless to the politics and delighted with the chaos.

This is one time Trump doesn't like the chaos. Mainly because he hates responsibility.

He mindlessly blustered his way into owning the shutdown. Chuck Schumer had to look at the floor to try and keep the cameras from focusing on his s#$t eating grin. Trump handed the Democrats a huge victory on December 11th. I have no idea when, or whether he figured out that he is hoist on his own patard.

This isn't the first time the GOP has hoisted itself on this particular petard.

But the stakes are higher this time.

Trump will lose this battle. And the way he manages to lose it will define the remainer of his presidency.

And, he's quite likely to end the thing through some idiotic and petulant stunt. Which is how he got himself into the mess in the first place.

No, I'm calling out a blatant lie. Nice attempt to deflect but it's not going to work.

More ignorant politicians that fail this country over and over again! Keep the government shutdown for all of 2019! It will eventually settle on the Democrats for failing to reach an agreement with the President.

Trump says he's going to shut down the government. Trump shuts down the government under single party rule. The lie: You lot pin it on the Dems who had no say in the matter and voted FOR the REPUB budget as their 1st act once taking power.

You're all ****ing idiots trying to pull of this BS and NOBODY (including Trump's 'He's hurting the wrong people' base) is falling for it.

They're bellowing that it is the Democrats fault.

Which is what makes this whole exercise so idiotic. Trump's own base is calling out the Repubs for crying out loud, this is only making them look worse. The logical move would be to own the shutdown as an act of principle. They'd be able to convince their own base at least that this is an act of honor. But trying to pin this on the Dems who had 0 say in the matter makes their ploy so obvious even the idiots can see it.

He didn't have to. Single party rule when this shutdown happened. This whole thing is a farce to save his legal ass, the Party just went along with it becuase government clusterfucks usually lead to privatization and this is the mother of all government clusterfucks.

Nobody is buying this BS, even Trump's base has started calling the Party (not Trump of course, cultists that they are) for this crap.
