Denmark to banish foreign criminals to remote island .....

Finance minister Kristian Jensen said the criminals will be detained at a facility on Lindholm, an uninhabited seven-hectare island in the province of Vordingborg.The tough scheme was set up as part of an agreement between Denmark’s conservative coalition government and its anti-immigration ally, the Danish People’s Party (DF).
The DF's official Twitter account celebrated the announcement by publishing an animated cartoon which shows a dark-skinned man being dumped by a ship on a desert island.

A spokesman for the party said: "Foreign criminals have no reason to be in Denmark. Until we can get rid of them, we will move them to the island of Lindholm, where they will be obliged to stay at the new deportation centre at night.

"There will be police there around the clock."

The Lindholm facility will house rejected asylum seekers who have been convicted of crimes, as well as foreign citizens who do not have permission to stay but cannot be deported for legal reasons.

For example, some of those due to be detained at the facility are stateless, while others come from countries which do not have a readmission agreement with Denmark.....snip~

Something tells me this island is going to get overcrowded really quick.

Anyway, this is the sort of thing I have been advocating:
instead of long prison sentences, send criminals off to an island

 

Do they plan to feed and clothe them or is it every man or woman for themselves???

can we make it a survival tv show why were at it to get some entertainment out of them at least being eaten by sharks, say trying to swim~ off the island or running for their lives being chased by head hunters

It's just dumb.
It will cost a fortune to haul all the materials to build a... well it's basically a budget hotel.
To than haul in all the basic needs for the people there.
And remove all the trash that they will make.

It will cost a massive fortune.

I think it will be pretty cheap. Cheaper than housing them around high-price Copenhagen, which is what was being done before.

I don't know what Denmark's membership status of the EU is (full or partial) and can't be bothered to find out, but this project won't happen because Brussels won't let it happen. And either way, if Denmark persists, the entire liberal western world will make them pariahs, and the EU will hit Denmark with a massive fine.

Apparently there are piranha-like fish off Denmark's waters in the Baltic Sea.
Not a lot of them, but enough that they advise not to skinny-dip without swim trunks on.
