I suppose he could work for another Federal agency or even private practice. I doubt he ends up like a lot of hacks in MSM. I was thinking he might be more suited to a special interest lobbyist group/think tank. Dark State. Shadow government type sort of like Clapper.

Or asked someone to destroy evidence, but nothing like that happened.
Rubio noted that Comey had three big things to say: Trump asked for his loyalty; Trump said he hoped Comey could let the Flynn matter go; and Trump was, just as Trump said, not the subject of an investigation.

Why, Rubio asked, did only two of those items leak? Why was the third such a closely-held government secret while the first two were freely shared with the press?

So it's not a crime if the president does it...that sounds like I've heard it somewhere before

The president cannot do that when he, or his office, or campaign is being investigated.

Nixon was impeached for obstruction of justice for the firing Archibald Cox, the special prosecutor.

That is a delusional post. You actually believe that?

It's like Mother Jones crackpots are all that remain on the left.

He certainly can and impeachment doesn't have to law broken. Politically it would have hurt him but don't kid yourself he could have ordered it. Do you refute he could have blanket pardoned Flynn? Has he?

    Pardon Flynn? Huh?

The Presidential pardon authority is exercised when the President pardons someone who committed a federal crime. How in the hell would Trump pardon someone who had not been charged and convicted of a crime?

Yes, they can. You need to Google it, and Google the history of "misdemeanors" and what it actually means.

I'm not arguing that Trump will be impeached (I don't think he will). I'm telling you that poster is correct. They can impeach for any reason they believe to be an indication of not being fit for the job. Fact.

Technically the president does have the power to terminate an FBI investigation or he can direct his AG to do so. As mentioned it would not be advisable. The president has also stated that he has no intention of doing so.

There were some changes to these laws following Watergate. One of which was changing the procedures for what was know as Special Prosecutor, now called Special Counsel. The changes includes how much authority Special Counsel has and who he answers to. I would have to research this again but I believe the president still has the power to fire a Special Counsel. Not a good idea and would then probably lead to action by congress.

The president is the only person who can preemptively pardon a person with a few minor exceptions. It is a blanket pass for any and all future convictions that may happen.

"Yep. In 1866, the Supreme Court ruled in Ex parte Garland that the pardon power "extends to every offence known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken, or during their pendency, or after conviction and judgment." (In that case, a former Confederate senator successfully petitioned the court to uphold a pardon that prevented him from being disbarred.) Generally speaking, once an act has been committed, the president can issue a pardon at any time—regardless of whether charges have even been filed.

There are some exceptions: The chief executive can't pardon someone for a violation of state law or nullify a civil ruling, and his power doesn't extend to convictions handed down in an impeachment proceeding. (It's also not clear whether the president can pardon himself for future convictions.)"

The only convictions coming from this mess are going to be the leakers.
