    • Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed HB 233 Tuesday.
    • The legislation will require public universities to survey students and staff annually about their beliefs to assess “viewpoint diversity” on campuses.
    • The bill does not specifically say what will be done with survey results, but DeSantis suggested budget cuts could be imminent if universities and colleges are found to be “indoctrinating” students.
This fascist will be running for president and does the right loves it?

Hmmm, Its too bad the 55% of Florida Democrats supported his grooming bill.
I guess they are feed up with the same ole indoctrination as well.
I can understand why you would be upset if only one viewpoint wouldn't be acceptable.

It seems wokeness isn't selling anymore with Disney stock taking to more then half its original value, Netflix finally telling its employees to grow up or leave, Twitter losing control of their one way narrative, CRT being banned across the board, the SCOTUS voting against Liberal ideals, and a Democrat president with the lowest approval rating in the history of the office, I mean, whats a leftist liberal to do these days with midterms right around the corner.

And it looks like your title is fake news. The bill merely requires that they be asked for their political beliefs, where does it say that they are required to state them?

The State of FL is under no obligation to fund indoctrination and the State Legislature is quite correct that they have a duty to withhold funds from institutions engaged in indoctrination.

“We obviously want our universities to be focused on critical thinking, academic rigor.” Apparently those are trigger phrases to the indoctrinating edu-thugs.

"determine “the extent to which competing ideas and perspectives are presented,” and whether students and faculty “feel free to express beliefs and viewpoints on campus and in the classroom.”

If you have problem with students and faculty feeling the freedom to express their viewpoints and beliefs on campus and in the classroom, you have a real problem. Good for DeSantis in making sure taxpayer money isn't being funneled into the gnarled fingers of indoctrinators.

"The legislation, which goes into effect July 1, also aims to ensure students are being shown ideas that they “may disagree with or find uncomfortable.”

Challenging prejudices and current thinking is common during intellectual growth.

whist kind of diversity are you talking about? how many choices of "political ideology" does desantis went to know? perhaps on some cases this is a simole answer and in som,e this could be extremely complex.

is every word on the bible literally true? might have any number of thoughtful (or not so thoughtful) answers.

do you want to sueze all firearms? would be 90% "no" but many firearms should be restricted in various ways short of sending black un helicopters on a suicide mission.

will the results of this test be used as some kind of litmus test for jobs, scholarships, and other opportunities?

Aren’t y’all pushing diversity in essentially every sector?

And isn’t diversity just a code word for less whites and more minorities?

So why should we give a **** what y’all think?

There’s a big difference between the state asking about political leanings-an answer they won’t get, and requiring information about political leanings- which they won’t like for my own comedic purposes.

Oh, my! Look how they hyperliberal Left hates it when 'the shoe is on the other foot'.... For years these radical Democrats, Leftists, and malcontents have whined, bitched, and protested when anyone who thinks differently than they do even dares to come and speak on THEIR college campuses....

NOBODY should have to be screened for their political beliefs, but, perhaps "turnabout is fair play". :roflol:

Ignoring for a min that was from a year ago, desantis said this:

Under House Bill 233, surveys would be conducted annually on campuses to assess viewpoint diversity and intellectual freedom, and determine “the extent to which competing ideas and perspectives are presented,” and whether students and faculty “feel free to express beliefs and viewpoints on campus and in the classroom”

    What’s the problem?

What you mean by, " doing a survey," makes all the difference. Read on, as this idea is the subject of this full post*.

That is a ridiculous, and disingenuous, distinction, you are drawing. The idea of "being asked for," versus being, "required to state," one's beliefs, would suggest that the first group would have the option of declining to state an answer-- is this the case? Is one option, for faculty and students, "decline to state?" If so, then you have a point; if not, you are only blowing smoke.

Are you familiar with any of the specifics of this legislation? Is the survey OPTIONAL, as the prior poster I quoted, Zorro, seemed to suggest (but not really)?

You nail the point, in the first half of your sentence; it is regrettable that you feel that things that are wrong, are OK, if they can be viewed as settling some political score. Once one accepts this basic premise, it opens the door to all manner of things that shouldn't be done, but...

Also, I'm curious as to how you see this as, "tournabout." Is there a Democrat- run state, that investigates, to assess the schools harboring, or fostering, the most Conservative students, in order to then deprive them of funding? I know this law, obviously, does not state that as the goal, but *DeSantis has already used this sort of economic leverage, to punish those who would not fall in line, behind his decrees.

(ShadowX: that is the fascist part).

Your claim in the title is still fake news. It's a survey, they are asked. There is nothing in the legislation nor in your link that states that they are compelled to answer. I refuse surveys all the time, everyone does.

Further, you would stoop to calling the product of the ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE LEGISLATURE the decree of one man? Do you think that words and terms are play dough that you can simply mangle and pour pretend meanings into?

If your claims withstood logic and evidence you would not have to stoop to using special terms.

Its a survey that can hit the circular file before they walk to register for glasses. Nobody is required to answer, and nobody can do squat if students decide to lie through their teeth. students can sit around a table, toking or drinking and comedic genius will result.

This section of the bill is an insult to every legislator's intelligence, who voted for it.
