I'm not saying that I fully believe this one, but when I heard it...it made sense. But it seems like it's possible that Hitler might have scampered off to parts unknown. That it wasn't Hitler that was found...but a body double.

Our first notification that Hitler was dead was when German Radio announced it.

When the Allied Forces made it to the Bunker that Hitler's remains were found, we found one dead body double, and we were shown by the Soviets the burned remains that they were convinced was Hitler and Eva.

When the Soviet Union finally allowed us to run tests on the remains, the remains that could be identified was that of an unknown woman in her late 40's (Eva was in her early 30's).

The TV show that I saw this on brought up interesting points that while I don't fully believe...made me wonder if Hitler could have had a body double for himself and his wife killed and burned for the Soviets to find while they scampered off to points unknown where they lived out their lives in isolation.

    Thoughts?

I really don't have a thought other than wondering whether any DNA from that site Hitler supposed committed suicide on was preserved and what the results were.

That's the problem. The only remains that we have are the bone fragments that were found in the ditch where he was supposedly burned up in that are in the possession of Russia. The DNA was too degraded to get more than gender (female) and age (late 40s) from one of the chunks.

Now DNA does have a margin of error, as little as three years and as large as five, but even then you're still outside the range of Eva Braun's age of 33.

And again this doesn't prove that it wasn't Hitler lying in a ditch covered in petrol (thank you Eddie Izzard), but it does open the possibility along with the other lack of eyes and hands-on evidence that perhaps he might have scampered off.
