So does North Carolina forbid black people from getting an ID? If not I don't see how it Targets them

Are you implying that black people are incompetent to get an ID?

If the voting was disproportionately black, there must have been some white voter suppression going on.

Sorry, what is the connection between 'sunday voting' and ID? I can't read your links.

I'd be more surprised if you openly questioned the excerpt in question being offered without additional context, including the FULL text of the statement with same.

okay, I managed to read through the linked stuff.

and it's horrifically racist. these 'academics' are saying that black people are too stupid (or lazy, perhaps?) to organise themselves just like everyone else. they're apparently willing to make an exception for such people, so convinced are they of black helplessness and inferiority.

    disgusting.

Interesting that none of you even noted the quoted part that I was actually focusing on (not the ID stuff)

This isn't a Voter ID thread, this is a thread about the Republicans trying to justify shutting down Sunday Voting in districts that are black and vote Dem, simply because they are black and vote dem.

that's just the plaintiffs copy of an appeal that was filed (supposedly filed), it is their argument (meaning their version of the story), it does not contain an appendix with supporting documentations, just their words... it is not a ruling made by the courts, in fact i wouldn't be surprised if it got kicked back due to lack of supporting documentation...

here's the one with the 'time stamp' on it...

imo, that sorry sack professor pollack, grabbed the copy off the web and posted a false flag twit just to encite the sheep before the midterms...

I don't know much about Law, so if you could help me out by giving me a concise reasoning why this isn't what it seems to be, I will have it edited into my OP.

Voters in Minnesota don't need IDs to vote. So why do voters in racist States such as NC need IDs to vote? They are in violation of the 14th & 15th Amendments and those States should lose representation in Congress per the Constitution.

i'm not an attorney, however i've done quite a few filings (pro se') in my state & county supreme courts over the years, and if i sent in an appeal without an appendix which includes all supporting documents, they'd rule against me...

in every instance, the entire appeal or motion, along with it's appendix and all documents, are entered into the courts system and will always come up as one full pdf when accessing it...

also, the courts here use an 'embossing' time stamp, & each top page of a motion/appeal has to be filed in the clerks office and gets stamped there also... these seem to be missing from that posted court doc...

Does the ID law not apply to ALL voters in the state, regardless of skin tone? In which case, you have no argument.

They're un-freaking-believable. We haven't seen this kind of racism since last century. Sad.

    and now the truth:
    https://www.ncconsumer.org/news-art...arolina-counties-change-voting-schedules.html

seems the cuts were made in 2012, then for the upcoming '16 elections each district voted to expand or cut hours 7 sundays, but the state ruled it was a burden due to the new voter id laws and the costs associated with it.

it was the repubs that ignored the new law and offered longer hours & sundays because it was the right thing to do for the voters... my how things get twisted by those crafty weasels across the aisle!

The reason why you oppose voter ID is not over racism that's a load of malarkey it is because you don't want illegal aliens turned away from the polls because they vote for Democrats.

Why should predominantly black counties have an advantage over predominately white counties by having an extra day of voting? All the citizens should be voting under the say rules. Equal voting rights.

I'm not a North Carolina constitutional expert but but I bet there is enough there and in state law that says in statewide elections all voters must be given an equal chance to vote and that certain counties allowing voting on a day that other counties do not may be in violation of that.

    Thanks. I'll check into that.
    What? That's stupid.
    From your link
So Woodhouse asked the counties with majority Republican control to restrict Sunday hours. Some County's did, some expanded hours.

So the cutting or expanding of hours depended on the individual county boards

    Absolutely. Sunday voting for everyone!
