http://news.yahoo.com/disneyland-measles-outbreak-prompts-warning-high-school-192035862.html **************************************** School near disneyland is warned about student with measles Wth? Why would the parents let that kid go to school to possibly spread this?
Ooops. My understanding of this is that the infected kid went to school and subsequently the school had to send out warning letters to the parents of kids who hadnt been vaxed against measles. Wouldnt the onus be on the parents of the infected kid....especially if they knew the dangers?
Hard to know. I was exposed to measles this past fall but didn't develop it. The lady didn't know she had it until after we had been exposed. As far as I know, she didn't spread it to anybody.
The person supposedly in "the know" in this case said being in the room with the kid is enough. Thats kinda scary. I thought measles was a thing of the past.
We live in an age where people make up their own science. Which means some soccer mom who read on some conspiracy blog that vaccines will give her kids autism thinks she knows more than the medical community.
I know. Ive always said that too much info CAN be a bad thing. Eta: never ever visit webmd if youre sick. Itll scare the bejeezus outta ya!
Since "Mexico" is now listed as part of the outbreak, has anyone considered those kid's heading north last fall from South America, could have infected other kids on their trip north?
Yeah but WebMD is how I found out that I have the plague, and diabetes, and apparently no left arm even though I can see it. It's phantom limb or something like that.
They were. One of the societal costs of open borders is people coming here who aren't screened for diseases that we eradicated and are now spreading said diseases. The CDC has stated that the measles epidemic from this case has spread as far as Texas and into Mexico. - - - Updated - - - Saw my doctor yesterday for a throat problem. She looked at it, said it was nothing and then asked if I had Googled it. I told her I only Google medical stuff after she has given me a term I want to subsequently look up.
People have forgotten the fear of a real epidemic. The type that washes the entire country in sickness and decimates communities, that leads to partial societal breakdown and true mass panic. America hasn't faced that since the Influenza outbreak of 1918. An outbreak that in 24 weeks killed more than AIDS has in 24 years at a time when America's population was a third what it is now. It will happen again someday. And when it does this anti-vaccine anti-doctor (*)(*)(*)(*) that has been perpetuated by ignorant blowhards will die again for a few generations like it did last time.
