Oh like that is the only social pressure out there. What the hell do you think evangelical Christianity is doing, or any of the fundamentalist sects of any religion? Hell even just mainstream secular society tries to force people to act in certain ways, be it with language (cussing) or manners or how we shop, or so many more things. PC isn't something new. At best it's just new wrapping.
Which is why I will not be PC or care about political correctness. As for religion, I haven't accepted any organized religion for the very reason. I have my own religion in my own heart and a close relationship with God.
I am 66 and I don't mind if people call me old. I really don't care what anyone calls me anyway as long as they don't use sticks and stones.
Which is all well and good. I myself only identify as simply Christian and not associated to any one Church. My only point is that there is alll kinds of social pressures out there and all of them are trying to force people to act in certain ways.
Look back a couple of post. Religion is the exact example I use as people trying to force others to act in a certain way. And quite honestly, social pressure is the exact means by which society as a whole should be trying to control or shape itself. If we shift to a point where a majority of us are Jewish, for example, then as long as it is still legal to choose to be otherwise, no rights are violated. It is only when we are using law to try to force people to act in certain ways (as opposed to the protections of rights and property), regardless of whether those ways are religious or secular or whatever, that we are actually violating rights.
Some People are trying to impose religion on everyone, but not as much as they used to because people,stood up.
Politics has become the new religion where the Godheads are elected and have far greater power than any past religion based upon invisible Gods. As such, Heaven and Hell can be exercised upon the living as the means of controlling the masses.

I don't know why getting divorced disqualifies a person from criticizing gay "marriage." For the record I am married to a person of the opposite sex and gender and have never divorced. I don't care who gets married or who gets divorced, but not everyone who thinks marriage means "one man, one woman," like just about every Democrat as recently as 10 years ago, is a homophobe.

Yes, but I don't support forcing churches, bakeries, etc. to offers services contrary to their beliefs. I'm very tolerant but I expect the same tolerance to shown to others if their beliefs are incompatible with yours. There's plenty of people who will offer those services.
