As long as we get a portion of the resources, such as the military, weapons, NASA etc.

We write our constitution, you write yours and neither of our hands are tied by the other.

the size of your trillion+ dollar debt will pale in comparison to the fraction of the military you would get, this country is too far in debt

when you reneged on your debt, we would take your Country back and turn it back into a State

Who is we? You and what army? The former Blue States would have most of the military resources.

You are the same people who called the Confederate States of America traitors for doing the same thing over 100 years ago.

Rules for thee but not for me.

What was that that you told me the other day when I said you and what army?

I believe it was words to the effect of what are we back in grade school now?

Except in this case it applies. The Blue States rightly own most of the military. Look at the GDP of the States and who pays for all of that hardware. It sure as hell isn't the red states.

Not to mention that we have imminent domain over most major military installations, including nuclear bases.

Hey we will just do as we please. We should never ask permission to leave this union, any more than a wife should have to ask permission to leave her husband. Its not working and there is no point in pretending it is working. Succession from a union, that we voluntarily joined in the first place is a right. what's good enough for the founding fathers, is good enough to me. A declaration of independence is good form, so we write one up!

"we" is the United States of America, "you" would be the State that became it's own country and could not pay it's debts

Yes I do believe in a referendum, which is better than our founders provided. If you recall, there were plenty of 'tories' left hanging around to disent , when that declaration of independence was signed and when that constitution of ours was ratified, they were still left hanging around to disent.

And that somehow changes things? Has the fundamental nature of secession somehow changed?

what ever party the State was that left, the rest of the USA would become the other party, and eventually would squash the State that left like a bug

I suggest Freshair, that whatever the state you live, you and yours decide whether the benefits of living in what's left of the union, outweigh the detriments. We will worry about moving foreward as a new nation, and so should you!

I disagree, we would become weaker if we split up and Russia and China would take over

the USA would become the party opposite the State that left

    have to look big picture

If Texas ditched the USA, the USA would become far left

if California ditched the USA, the USA would become far right

I don't even know what the hell that means. Maybe if you rewrote it.

You're forgetting something very important.... The United States of America is not going to follow you into being a traitor against the nation.

Your fantasy is not going to happen so that's the major problem that you have with that scenario.

Maybe you and a few of your buddies can go establish your little nation of Petoria but here in the real world it's not going to happen.

You should just declare yourself a sovereign citizen

i think the West Coast and Hawaii, should take the leap. This union has ceased to function at all, and its nothing but an abitross across everyone's neck. Its not working for red states. Its not working for blue states. We can't even trust in the election process that is supposed to provide representation. Its time for an amicable divorce (preferred) or a nasty divorce if there is obstinence and denial, but its time to give up on this. We can write our own constitutions, and our own laws and determine our own destiny and so can everyone else. Where ever there are mutual benefits to an association, we can negociate treaties including a mutual defense treaty, but lets end our misery.

Could you please be more specific about what you mean by a "nasty divorce" ?

Your problem is the same as here we go again this little fantasy that you're indulging in is never going to happen.

You might as well declare yourself a sovereign citizen as that would make more sense.

Or what the hell go for it get all your buddies together and see what you can do. I'm sure all 2 to 6 of you could get together and write letters to your Congress people

There is no earthly reason for you to want us to stay and no logical reason for us to want to remain. We are just sucking the blood and soul out of each other if we try to remain as one. The best and only way to prevent inevitable bloodshed on a massive scale, is to separate peacefully.

if part of the left States left, they would all have to leave as Republicans would then control everything as the Country would lose those liberal votes

I think Texas should secede, take Trump with them
