I don't mind any poster speaking their mind, but when the message received is highly critical, it raises my hairs on my neck.

Very few small aircraft have systems designed to help the pilot evade collisions. The windows and his eyes work pretty well or we would be slaughtering pilots and passengers with tens of thousands of wrecks. But commercial and very fast moving aircraft pose more of a danger and their systems are far more advanced. Sounds like your experience is the faster aircraft. I have not flown military aircraft. I have used what FAA calls flight following to help me evade the much faster aircraft. The aircraft as I said have on-board systems to help them evade other aircraft.

I take the final comment as humor. I am not trying to pull a boner. LOL

I might add, I have often asked the passengers to help by scanning the sky. It only helps. I do not rely on passengers to keep us safe. But why not ask them to keep an eye out?
Tripe what? I was speaking i believe of VFR where you can give the passengers a task to assist in watching for other aircraft.

No argument from me, but having been shrouded in fog where you can't see 3 inches, zero visibility, you need help of all kinds.

My first experience was at age 9 in Puerto Rico I watched a twin engine plane starting up, all was well, then an engine caught fire, I raised a bloody cry and got the lady behind the counter to see, she promptly phoned the Fire Brigade, and all turned out well, the Pilot was not aware of the fire, and everyone including the Pilot made a big fuss over me, the Pilot gifting me his wings and hugging me.
    Very emotional event.

    Moral to the story ?
    Visual is not always revealing....

I already move about town "driverless": We call it public transportation, the chauffeur drives the bus, the train, the tram ................... I relax.
