FYI, previous attempts at negotiations always centered around other issues with North Korea, i.e., all the artillery pointed at South Korea, abductions of foreigners, of course missle and nuclear technology as well as many others. The baseline for the US was South Korea must be directly involved in the negotiations in order to prevent North Korea from having a political advantage of direct because that gives their terrible human rights government credence.

I have said for some time now with the missles and the nukes, the US needs to build its protective missle interceptor system, North Korea may come around, but down the road it will be someone, and with it, we can negotiate from a stronger position.
