Does ageing explain America’s disappointing wage growth?

China's population is aging very fast too yet capitalist wages there have risen fast enough to transport 600 million into the middle class. America should switch to capitalism too!! obviously!!!!

 

I suggest that in order to 'believe' wages have not grown appropriately is the pinch people feel as consumers. Wages are basically a result of the supply and demand for labor, affordable labor which allows the business to be viable. Totally separate from wage growth is the increasing cost of goods/services which we might call inflation. IMO there is little requirement for wage growth to match inflation growth. Therefore, as the cost of everything continues to increase, but wages are held lower due to more supply than demand, our purchasing power is being pinched!

Lastly, who actually feels they have 'disappointing wage growth'? Are they people who have not prepared themselves to be competitive in the work place? Are they people who have obtained education and skills? Do you expect wage growth at your local Ace Hardware store to match compensation provided at Google?

How can 75% of 19 year olds not meet the requirement when our graduation rate is 83%

You said 75% of 19 year olds do not have GED's. we have an 83% graduation rate. Your allegation does not match reality unless there is some weird demographic quirk i am unaware of. I was asking you to explain your number. Apparently you can't.

 

As I said, in liberal America 75% of 19 year olds cant qualify for many jobs including govt and military jobs, because they need at least a GED, to be drug free, to have no criminal record, and not be obese.

Well now their is two of us, you don't have a clue about manufacturing in the United States we have a lot of jobs that doesn't need a college education.

 

Aging is just being used as another red herring.
During the recession, older people were actually more likely to be working than they were during the previous decade. (Many couldn't afford to retire, apparently)
It was the young who experienced a higher unemployment rate.

 

yep, corporate greed started by outsourcing manufacturing, now they are outsourcing service jobs, America sold the information society on the cheap to Countries like India

Corporations outsource to survive not to be greedy. Do you understand this very very important distinction?

 

A liberal will not be able to understand that all competitors move to China to stay competitive and therefore none make more money by moving to China it is only the Consumer that makes more money in the form of lower prices from corporate moves to China. If a college education results in higher wages and more gainful employment, than why would it need to be subsidized by government? I drove a Silverado for years, but in Los Angeles density continued to increase, parking became incredibly difficult, traffic a nightmare, and the overall cost unbearable. So the invisible hand of the free market led me to purchase a Honda Insight, which had just been discontinued, because the dealership was practically giving it away.

I'm a 6'5" conservative male, driving a toy car, because owning it literally saves me $300/month AFTER accounting for the car loan. If higher education has such an incredible economic benefit, than we don't have to subsidize it any more than we already do.

I haven't been to Church since I was a child. My Baptism and Confirmation were the only two times I ever saw my father, uncles, or grandfather step foot in a church, and I have since lived my life without fear of an imaginary man in the sky. I've still managed to lead an incredibly meaningful life regardless.

1) we don't have to subsidize someone else's education when we are hard pressed to pay for our own.

2) higher education is free online nowadays so it would be really counterproductive to subsidize old fashioned bricks and mortar education.

3) Lastly, tuition welfare to solve a problem is just one of a 10001 forms of welfare that a libcommie will support because that is the limit of the liberal IQ for problem solving.

He died a horrible, terrible ****ing death because he got remarried after grandma died and his children refused to speak to him until his 2nd wife died 17 years later. I was the lucky fellow who got to babysit my grandfather as he starved to death, all because his children broke out into tears every time he brought up the topic of not dying a slow, painful death.
