This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it. Abraham Lincoln First Inaugural Address, 4 Mar. 1861 https://avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/lincoln1.asp Also, being mindful that... “An imbalance between rich and poor is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics.” ― Plutarch Is it time for Americans to revolt against the status quo?
I love all this "tough" talk about revolutions and civil wars (said in numerous other threads in past) from all these keyboard warriors. Please spar us the BS. The average American is fat and lazy who can't even be bothered to put effort in to not looking like a fat slob and people think they're going to fight in a revolution? Haha...funny stuff.
Only if you are an idiot that hates society because it hasn't given you what you want. Then, you claim they owe it to you, that your not having it is abuse, you throw a tantrum and destroy the system, making everyone equal- So nobody has anything. You have also destroyed the opportunity for you to become rich- and the ability to live off the subsidy that is paid for by taxing the rich. That means you screwed yourself. Generally, the poor are poor and the rich are rich for the same reasons, just different in polarity. Some people want to rise above the bar and work for it- some what the bar lowered to where they are, and work for it. The government bends over backwards to help the poor. It obtains the money to do that from the rich- and the poor remain poor because rather than take advantage of the hand-up and opportunity, they become dependent on it as a hand-out, continue to mismanage their own lives, and blame society for their situation. What they lack can't be given to them; they must find it within themselves. It would not matter how much money you gave them, it would never be enough. Equal opportunity allows any person willing to take the opportunity to become rich. It does not give you the character, the ambition, the wisdom, the motivation to do it- that comes only the person themselves. If you won't bring that to the table, you have failed yourself; society has not failed you. There are of course many people who are poor for reasons they would not have had control over. Our society has always shown great compassion and generosity for people in genuine need,m and I fully support that legitimate need- but we are being plagued by those attempting to pass off their need as genuine, when it is in fact sloth and bad character, and who are willing to become parasites and live off others. Shall we revolt against freedom and opportunity? There is a reason more people around the world have wanted to come to America than any other nation- and that IS freedom and opportunity.
No it's not. There is a big difference between stealing merchandise from stores vs fighting a war. Surely you know this.
Yeh, grab your pitchforks and scythes and take what’s rightfully yours. Crapola, all you can find is a bong, a shoestring tourniquet, and an X-box controller. Maybe next year. Biden will fix it anyway. He cares.
This has been discussed, but IMO were about 1 trigger point away from a massive problem that will include lots of death, not missing sneakers. All it will take is one pissed off guy off guy. I'm afraid its impossible to avoid at this point. People have gone crazy and when it starts, the violence will be brutal. There will be a ton of shoot first ask questions later approaches by those that have done everything possible to avoid confrontation up to this point.
Looting, murder, civil disobedience, violence, defacement of monuments etc is all part and parcel of civil uprisings... Surely YOU know this!
We have far too much power given to unelected bureaucrats. That and we need term limits. The absence of those may warrant a revolution.
Agreed! What is missing is patronage. Then again, how did all those pellets of bricks just magically appear during the riots? Why are the Democrats eagerly defending the BLM Movement?
America was designed to have an ongoing, institutionalized, and peaceful revolution. Anyone who wants to overthrow that is trying to reestablish the autocracy that was originally overthrown
Wise words indeed! The Federal bank comes to mind. They have been in the business of corporate welfare for far too long, and at the expense of The People! That is a valid reason to overthrow the Government.
Agreed! Republicans have a long history of ensuring rights are created and then protected and the democrats have a long history of denying rights.
