Does Lady Liberty still Represent the USA?

I think this highlights how Lady Liberty no longer represents the USA - we're no longer the liberal, free country that we were when that statue was erected. We're a 'mature' nation now with a welfare state, a high and well-established population, and no longer expanding our borders. Our people, all descendants of immigrants who came to that free country of the past, are now bitter about newcomers coming in and benefiting on their backs. So, our economy and our culture have changed considerably from then to now, and with this our attitudes toward immigration.

Might as well take her down and ship her back to France.

 

What is the core principle?

 

How does allowing illegal alien gangsters, terrorists, etc. to illegally traverse our borders and stay represent the USA? This is never what the Statue of Liberty was meant to represent. Immigrants that came to Ellis Island came here to live in and become Americans legally. They wanted to give their children a legal chance at a better life as Americans and were willing to work hard to attain the American dream. I would argue that American Citizens have less freedom now with illegal aliens taking jobs, inflating their welfare numbers thus taking $$$ away from the truly needy American citizens. Now we have illegal aliens with multiple deportations killing Americans. The left conflates the word 'immigration' with illegal aliens in order to garner Democrat votes thus undermining legal voters. Our economy and culture has not changed it has been attacked by foreign entities.

Sorry, but you certainly can fantasize that you are a white male slave owner, but that fantasy will never come true in this county. There are other countries in the world you might like better.

 

"Land of the Free and home of the Brave" meant land of little government and instead in self reliance.

Liberalism has rewritten that to "Land of Free stuff and home of the Entitled."

It may be that the story about his mother was created to hide it's true origins - by the US, maybe the French, or even Eiffel himself. Maybe Eiffel was just lying to his mother so she would love him.

I don't give a damn about the plaque. And I am tired of hearing about the statue of liberty and what she thinks. The statue of liberty doesn't make our laws. And things are much different now than they were when she was anchored there. Sometimes, I wish the French would just take her back if we are going to attach such importance to every word we can put in her mouth.

 

I think she should be deported... or at least her spikes should be chopped off... and her liberally militant offensive arm lowered..

Did it ever?
Has America truly ever been a land of liberty for all? Obviously not. Obviously it is still not.

-We still have radical Mullah-Esq conservative religious factions openly trying to dismantle the country and put us back in the middle ages.

-Science, Atheism and numerous other forms of progression are still in their infancy and attacked nonstop by the zealot factions who have been left out of the success of America and are angry when ironically they'd benefit most of all from embracing these things.

While I like America and am happy to reside in it, America simply has the best bullshit story of any country, that's why it's a success, not because it truly does anything radically different.


We do the exact same thing as every other tier 1 country the only difference is we have oceans protecting us from the greater world and its ills. We don't actually do anything else fundamentally different in how things are run. If the US wasn't so geographically secluded it would just be another tier 1 country with a large group of rich people and masses of poor zealot religious lost people just as every other country on earth. The only reason America differs is because the zealot poor in America benefit so immensely from the phenomenal wealth of the elite here that they come under the illusion that they're special and unique in the world when in reality they aren't, they're simply direct beneficiaries due to US geographical seclusion of the nations elite's wealth that trickles down to them. Such is why they want immigration shut off. They are starting to realize this reality that they are not special, that, basically, a poor white person in America or a poor black person or a poor Hispanic person or a poor whatever person in America is not actually in any real definable way special or different compared to their equivalents in any other comparable country and this is being pushed in their faces due to immigration.

It's hopeless though for their efforts, while noble, are doomed to fail. There's so many immigrants (non-European descent, non Afram classical descent) in America now that the future of the nation, even if you shut off immigration forever, due to immigrant birth rates and differing values, the US will be a racially segmented, racially divided nation based on class, race in coming decades. (One could very well argue, as I would, that we've been that for a long time already and the grunt masses are simply stumbling upon that truth that many at the middle and top have always known).
