Individual 1 may feel it is politically problematic to pardon someone who is guilty of witness tampering and obstruction (like him). So he must have told Billy the Bagman to make sure Stone is in some way rewarded for his illegality by recommending a lighter sentence than he deserves.
After all, Stone knows the details he hid from Mueller about the extent of cooperation between Wikileaks, the Russians, and the campaign with respect to the hacked material released by Wikileaks.

I remember Obama ordering his DOJ to do this and that every time there was a racial event and yet I do not recall any leftist EVER criticizing Obama for doing so and nor Holder for blindly obeying. I do recall Holder proudly calling himself Obama's wingman . . . and the political Left cheering.

    First, link please.

Second, this is a case where Stone's obstruction directly benefited the Golfer-in-Chief. Get it?

"The statement came hours after Trump tweeted about the sentence prosecutors recommended, saying: “This is a horrible and very unfair situation. The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!” The senior Justice Department official, though, said the decision to revise prosecutors’ recommendation came before Trump’s tweet."

Does anyone actually believe the WH statement that the DoJ did this without consulting Trump after this in Don's tweet............."Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!”

You will never see any evidence of collusion between wilkileaks and russia because it does not exist.

Assange offered to prove it by appearing before congress . But they dont want the truth. Assange will never be asked for that proof . If he lives to tell it.

Stone never talked to Assange although he wanted to using Credico.

They got stone for lying to congress and witness intimidation and not a conspiracy with Russia.

Yet the head of the CIA can lie to congress and keep his job . Not all are subject to our laws. Why is that?

Remember how the walls kept closing in?

Well, the walls appear to have suddenly gone into reverse.

    We tried to warn you...

    Sham impeachments have consequences.

We tried, but you wouldn't listen.

I'll chalk that up to a lack of knowledge on the matter since our intel agencies have already established Russia gave the hacked DNC material to Wikileaks.

As much as I understand we are all somewhat exhausted from corruption fatigue this type of thing is exactly what we as a country should fear the most. The politicalization of the DoJ, which is supposed to remain independent from the executive in matters such as these, by the hand of a criminal.

Trump tweets......."Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!"......and then claims to have nothing to do with Billy the Bagman's reversal. The Following scoffed at the notion the farcical "trial" followed by acquittal would embolden the Groper-in-Chief but clearly it has. He was already off the chain, now it gets worse as congressional Repubs cover their eyes and ears and cower in the corner when they should be sounding the alarm bell.

‘Stunning:’ Former Federal Prosecutors Aghast At DOJ Reversal In Stone Case

Former DOJ officials called the situation unprecedented, embarrassing, and, in the words of one former U.S. attorney, “a shocking erosion of DOJ independence that will undermine public confidence.”

How the walk-back unfolded was particularly stunning to them, and they said it further revealed the improper influence at play.

“The crude way this is being done — almost oafish like — simply removes any rational doubt about what’s going on,” said Patrick Cotter, a former federal prosecutor who told TPM he had never seen anything like it in his 30 years practicing law.

“It certainly gives the unmistakable impression that this is a wholly political and partisan decision being imposed on federal prosecutors,” Cotter, now a defense attorney, said.

In the context of historical precedent......well.........hmmmm........I can't think of one other than Nixon trying to fire Archibald Cox.........cuz this sort of thing just doesn't happen. In contrast..........this sort of thing (blatant corruption) happens all the time under Individual 1. How do you think he became known as that designation?

Crooked Donald's behavior is beginning to fit a pattern. Immediately after Mueller's congressional testimony following the release of his report (showing multiple instances of collusion and obstruction) Don made the Zelensky call.
After his impeachment acquittal (despite about 1/2 dozen Repub senators admitting to his guilt, and all of them knowing he is guilty based on the evidence) President Petulance sought revenge against those who truthfully testified about what happened in response to lawful congressional subpoenas.

There may be one thing the Conman-in-Chief enjoys more than soaking up the fawning adoration of his minions at his Elmer Gantry tent revival rallies. Getting let off the hook for criminal behavior. He gets so giddy about it he can't help himself from initiating another scandal to test the loyalty of the POT.

This is a case where there was no obstruction. Stone was arrested for working for Trump and doing what every other journalist in the country was trying to find out what else WikiLeaks had and when they were going to dump it. Although everyone with Functioning brain was figuring the last week of October.

Trump takes post-impeachment reckoning to next level
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/...-backs-away-stiff-sentence-roger-stone-114006

"The reckoning following President Donald Trump’s impeachment acquittal came into sharper focus on Tuesday.

Less than a week after the Senate rejected two articles of impeachment against Trump, the president bashed federal prosecutors for recommending a stiff sentence for Roger Stone, attacked the judge overseeing high-profile cases involving his ex-advisers, and suggested that the military could discipline Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a star impeachment witness."
    ...........................................................................................................................................
Have Trumpette's forgotten this isn't a reality TV show? It's actual reality. This kind of behavior really is the kind of stuff you see in third world dictatorships. Just a reminder..........the POTUS is not supposed to intervene in the case of someone he has a personal relationship with. Why do you think this is okay?

Well... Susan Collins was right. The President* certainly learned "his lesson" from his Senate acquittal. He learned that he can now act as a dictator with no fear of oversight.
