I taught my step-son to play chess back in 1989 or 1990.... and within four months he was provincial champion for Grade five students in my province. Within six months I took him to the Canadian national championships in Montreal and he did win against the champion for Saskatchewan, one of the only other Canadian provinces with a population of one million people. I personally do believe that President Trump could well score in the top one percent of the top one percent of the top one percent of Americans on many standardized IQ tests but....... when you combine his mental aptitude with his life experience........... On that note I have kind of a funny story that I can tell you..... back in Grade 7 I was in a school assembly and I ended up winning an award that year for "Most Outstanding Student in Grade Seven"..... which struck me as kind of funny because I had absolutely terrible........nearly non-existent study habits. By 1978 I decided to take a three year Engineering program condensed into two years.......... in my first month at Dalhousie I missed about fifty percent of my classes and one hundred percent the labs......... and was told after a month or so that I may as well go home because nobody can pass without passing the labs! Now you would tend to think that I was partying too much but no...... I found a used bookstore that had episodes of Remo Williams, The Destroyer that I had missed..... so I wasted the whole month in Halifax reading books by Richard Sapir and Warren Murphy.
