Hmm...that I do not know. I am not sure if having ads slow the site down or not...I can ask for you if you like?

Which ads? I donated a few days ago and still see some ads. Plus no fancy banner? Is there some kind of lag? Should I log out then back in or something?

You will get the banner within the week. It took about a week for me to get mine, some may wait a little longer.

You will get your banner whether you like it or not!

Righto. Hopefully I will have an answer from the computer savvy dudes.

    Sixteen months later... :bored:

I don't mean to be a sphincter about this, but... when you let me modify my user title, I'll be more than happy to donate $$ to this forum!

'Till then, I'll just sit and think of a cool user title. [IMG]

Although it may seem like a quid pro quo arrangement, I'll still continue to donate to the forum.

However, I would also like the ability to change my usertag, and if it hadn't been mentioned as being something that was coming down the pipe, so to speak, I wouldn't think twice about it.

But, it was, and I'll continue to patiently wait for it.

I just hope it happens before I :tombstone:

you mean the tag directly below your username? What would you change it to? I rarely give such things any thought.

Awesome, I'm considering donating. The Donor tag looks pretty snazzy: [IMG]

Why would anyone want to donate money to a political forum? For a little graphic under your name? I could see donating money to a forum that was devoted to a worthwhile cause, but politics isn't a worthwhile cause.

If the owner can't or won't spend the money to keep the site up, they shouldn't have started it in the first place.

This site runs an outdated software version and it is pitifully short on extras and add-ons that should be affordable with the amount of donors here.

This forum is not in need of add ons, or a version update; it's fine as it is. Politics is a very important subject in life, as it affects our everyday lives. What add-ons would you suggest to be added?

This version of vBulletin is woefully lacking the improvements and enhancements that version 3.8.4 contains not to mention bug fixes. There are many unique and interesting add-ons, but I'm not suggesting using any. All I commented on was that if the donors are supporting this site, they should get something other than a bare-bones forum.

I never said politics wasn't an important subect, what I said was "politics isn't a worthwhile cause". Meaning that politics isn't something worth paying to discuss or opine about.

Why not suggest it to them then, instead of posting it here where they won't notice it? Sometimes, a 'bare-bones' forum is good. Forums do not need to be loaded with the latest add-ons. It's good to keep things simple.

There is an AA sticker I saw once that said "keep it simple, stupid". It cracked me up.

Seriously, we don't need advertising here. It's a distraction. Well, of course if Bill Gates wanted to donate, we'll take it!

You get rid of those annoying ads at the top of the screen and between posts, too.

Really? How many politicians and volunteers raise money just for this reason? I say keep the news ads at the very least. It sometimes alerts me to something I have missed.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I see no advertisements except the three little boxes in the upper right for Peace Corps, MDA and Make Poverty History and one text line ad to donate to the Red Cross.

You can turn the news ads off by clicking the arrow symbols on the upper right of the table. They don't come back.
