They're coming by the millions. These images, taken from the air by a remote controlled drone, show the stream of migrants literally pouring into Europe as a river:

It goes on and on for several kilometers.

Refugees appear to be skipping over many countries on established travel routes trying to head to certain destination countries.
Obviously these refugees are being picky what countries they want to go to.

There have also been disturbances at the entrance to the Calais tunnel as migrants are trying to reach the U.K.
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/08/24/migrants-make-150-attempts-everyday-reach-uk-france/
It has even been becoming unsafe for truck drivers making the crossing, as crowds of migrants loitering around the entrance on the French side have attempted to hijack vehicles (video here )

It does make you wonder why France apparently isn't good enough for them and they prefer to get into England.

It's not old news. It's still been continuing to go on all this time.

    Do you live in Europe?
No, it's not continuing, try to get in touch with reality for a change instead of trusting headless-chicken armageddon narratives.
Look at the numbers of new arrivals for 2016 and 2017. The massive influx of late 2015 is a thing of the past.

I found this graph, showing migrant arrivals by sea into Italy: https://www.iom.int/sites/default/files/press_release/pictures/26.05 2.JPG

The last month the graph has data on is for April and most of the month of May 2017. As you can see, the number for April 2017 was actually higher than in April of the previous year.
If we do a little extrapolation for the partial month of May, we find that it is only about 15 percent lower than it was in 2016.

It is well known that the amount of migration lulls in Winter and picks up in the Summer, so right now during the Winter months it would be at its lowest.

Your first link talks about 670,000, you made that "millions" in your OP. Sorry, but that doesn't add to your credibility in any way.
The text in your first link clearly talks about the situation in late 2015, btw the map is not accurate either, Frankfurt is not where the map says it is. During the massive influx in late 2015, I could see with my own eyes what was going on and the situation today is very, very different.
There is no way a government could "hide" 500,000 - 600,000 people and let them sneak in "secretly." The Balkan route which was the way to enter Europe has been closed for more than one and a half years now. Spain has seen a rise in arrivals on its coasts, but not even close to the masses from late 2015.
That second link is nothing new, many politicians have been warning that the numbers, especially from Africa, could rise to a level never seen before, but that still doesn't make your OP correct in any way.
I live in Germany and not even ten percent of the stuff that people claim on this forum is true. Especially our American friends are almost completely out of touch with reality when it comes to this topic, which, of course, doesn't prevent them from lecturing someone who has first hand experience that they don't have. The amount of nonsense I've read on this forum is utterly absurd.

It isn't so much what governments do as what governments say, and as most of us know full well . . . governments lie whenever it suits their purposes. Lying and perverting the truth comes naturally to politicians.

So has the OP. They are not coming by the millions and it has not been continuing.

If they're coming by the tens of thousands, which they are, then after a few weeks it will add up to millions? Also there's no sign of it slowing down?

That's just the amount coming in through Italy, on boats, that they've actually caught.

True, it's just a small select sample size, but it does indicate the amount of migration from Africa probably hasn't dropped off much since 2015.

Why don't you try some reliable research and, please, read your own links! This is pure trolling.
It doesn't say anything about 670,000 having arrived in Italy via boat or coming through Italy.
    Your link says:
An unprecedented 670,000 people, mainly fleeing conflict in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, have flooded into Europe so far this year in the continent's worst crisis of its kind since World War II. The majority cross from Turkey into Greece and then on through the Balkans with the aim mostly of getting to Germany. Faced with a huge influx over the summer, Hungary clamped down on its border with Serbia, prompting the refugees to switch into Croatia which in turn imposed border controls, pushing them into Slovenia.
The pics were taken on the Balkan route in 2015 and the text clearly says where these people are from, and if we look up data from 2015, we can pretty clearly see who came from what country. For some irrational reason you make them all Africans. Is paying attention to details too difficult?
The number of arrivals in Italy for 2017 is 119,247.
    https://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/521604/umfrage/bootsfluechtlinge-in-italien/

Has what to do with your first post and the claims you made?
The sentence you quoted from that report would be this:
These migration patterns are consistent with the growth seen during the period 2000 – 2017, when Asia added some 30 million migrants, followed by Europe, which added 22 million, Northern America, 17 million, and Africa, 10 million.

For Europe that's 22 million in 17 years, which is 1,29 million per year for a region that either is categorized as the EU (population of 511 million) or Europe (EU incl. non-Eu countries, population of around 740 million).
    Try reality, please.

Germany supplanted the UK as the premier destination for a while, during Mad Merkel's year long insanity of open borders. Now Germany's tight shut again, they're heading back to good ole' soft touch UK, armed with a vocabulary of one word, "racist!", to cut through all objections.

Border guard: "let's see your ID card."

Middle eastern 35 year old child: "you...racist!"

Border guard: "OK, no problem, take it easy, I haven't got a lawyer. Let's see you birth certificate."

Middle eastern 35 year old child: "you...racist!!!" (said with growing confidence)

Border guard: "OK, no problem, take it easy, I haven't got a lawyer. Let's see your...err, any kind of document, even a piece of paper with your name scrawled on it. Gimme something...anything."

Middle eastern 35 year old child: "you...RACIST!!!!!!!"

Border guard: "Welcome to the UK, you upstanding asylum-seeking five year old".

It's a little bit like the UK in the EU.
People coming across the border, no way of stopping them.
Freedom of movement for all it seems.
    EU migrants/refugees, to-mate-toe/to-mar-toe

You don't see drones following ferries to Britain from France though.
It's hypocritical to film one lot of migrants and not EU migrants with their freedom of movement.

Do Europeans think they're better than these refugees so can come and live here but think these others can't?

That's racist, as soon as the UK suggested controlling of EU migration, Brussels was like no.

Where, and how did this come about? How did Europe convince the public it was the best thing to do?

I actually meant, how did they get everyone to agree about stopping it and what have they done to ensure to the best of their abilities to allow fewer to enter Europe.

    Okay....
1st "how did they get everyone to agree about stopping it".... they can't unless we sink the boats that bring them over... not a bad thought....but....that doesn't run well on the telly
2nd "and what have they done to ensure to the best of their abilities to allow fewer to enter Europe."....errmmm...well short of sinking their boats.... hope the weather gets too cold for them???

Truth is we can't and they don't. Its called a humanitarian crisis and the politicos get all teary eyed and wobbly legged and hope that we don't notice.

As your culture is destroyed and rape gangs abuse women and girls, and the government prosecutes calling them destructive when it sounds like you are blaming them instead of victimizing the aggressors. Yeah, it's a lovely world today.

C'est la vie when we are cattle to make money for the wealthy and powerful, but have no say. They humor us and do as they will.
