'They are considering passing another law., which would require Wilmington residents who were found guilty of a firearms-related crime to register with the city’s police department within two days of being released from jail. '
And naturally the ACU opposes this ,but not for us non offenders

First, most convicted of a firearms-related crime are likely felons, they are registered anyway cannot own or possess gun, period. So what is the real long-term objective here? I can see them defining a firearms crime as anything related to guns, i.e., failure to register a gun, carrying a gun without a permit, improper storage and etc., not just the image of the law applying to a violent criminal that the normal person evaluating the law might conjure. I am always suspicious of how laws are packaged and marketed to the community vs actual objectives, ala Seattle's gun tax.
