Pauline Cafferkey, the nurse who suffered complications from the Ebola infection she contracted while volunteering in west Africa, is now critically ill, the Royal Free hospital in London has said. Related: Ebola crisis the story in brief Cafferkey was flown from Scotland, where she lives, to London for specialised care in an isolation tent at the Royal Free after she fell ill last week. Her family said the local medical staff were slow to realise this was a recurrence of the infection she had successfully fought last year.
Well, this is all being kept hush-hush. I think what we're now learning is that Ebola is a chronic condition that can flare up after a few months of inactivity. So much for being cured from Ebola for life and not being a transmission risk. Let the chaos and panicky riots begin again.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC368745/ we learned this almost 10 years ago, this is not new knowledge, in fact this study done was attempting to replicate results and further expand on one done 10 years prior to this with the same information and results, they just thought the study was done wrong so they would redo it to confirm or deny the results... sadly, scientists and politicians try to set timelines together and we seem to ignore the data and stick with opinion rather than facts... hence we have a 3 weeks incubation period where you are "likely" safe... when in reality, the health of the people will dramatically change that... and in impoverished africa where vitamin deficiencies and autoimmune issues are commonplace, this is the perfect storm for ebola to lay in wait undetected in people, and ready to resurface many months later... there are several more studies just like this one going into "real world" situations rather than "lab controlled" estimates... and nobody is going to like the results...
