A friend of mine who lives in Havana wishes to assemble a digital library of copyright-free books for free distribution in Cuba. I have been downloading such books and will arrange for them to be sent or delivered to him.

Quite a few people in Cuba have computers, but internet access is expensive and limited -- downloading in particular is restrained by cost. But if a good digital library of eBooks can be assembled, it can be reproduced and distributed widely via SSDs and other storage media.

If anyone here has any ideas about how this project can be advanced, I would be grateful to hear them. (I'm thinking, in the first instance, of websites -- besides the obvious like Project Gutenberg and the ones which come up in response to the search string 'free ebooks in Spanish' -- which might have Spanish translations of documents on world events, current affairs, classics -- both fiction and non-fiction -- and so on. But you may have other suggestions.)

I've got the Liberty Library Spanish-language books, but there may be other political sites which have free Spanish-language ebooks. (Left, Right, doesn't matter.) The preferred format is ePub, but in the absence of that, any format will do.
