I wish all PF members who are US-citzens and have registered to vote a good election day. If you have not already cast your ballots, I heartily recommend you do so today. I absolutely do not care which candidates you support. What counts here on this thread is the principle that every US adult of voting age should vote. I cast my vote as early as possible and got confirmation from my home state of Ohio that the ballot was received and has surely already been processed. It was, as it always is, a good feeling to know that I did my civic duty to partake in free and fair elections. Wishing all of you good weather and easy waiting lines to vote today. VOTE! -Stat
I have also exercised my right to vote, encourage all to do so, and to respect the votes of others. That is essential for democracy to succeed.
Yes, it does feel good to vote. I voted two weeks ago and it seemed to actually relieve some stress. Not sure why, but it does feel good to complete one's civic duty.
Exercising one's participatory right and losers respectfully acknowledging the will of the People have long been the mainstays of American democracy. Vice President Kamala Harris told supporters that “we must accept” the results of the election during her concession speech Wednesday at Howard University, where her campaign hosted an election night party yesterday. Harris conceded the election to President-elect Donald Trump earlier in the day. Harris said that she will help Trump and his team with the transition and “engage in a peaceful transfer of power.” She also addressed her supporters, urged them to stay engaged and never give up the fight for democracy.
Why is that something to stive for? Do you really want the genuinely stupid people to vote? Do you want people who don't know a SINGLE person or issue on the ballot to vote? Do you want people who look ONLY at the (R) or (D) at the end of the name, and vote for them without regard for whether or not they're a good choice to vote? I sure do not!
