End of the world?

Howdy,

What do you think, is it time for this world to end?

I mean, all those abominations and madness. The overpopulation. The environmental degradation. The religious arguments. Migrants. Plastics. Tattoos. Trade wars. Cyber wars. Civil wars. Other wars.



Are we there yet, what's your feeling?

 

We will not know the day or the time. So I say enjoy it while you can. Everything ends after all.

 

We can very easily get into a post-apocalyptic scenario with a nuclear war or by messing up the environment, but even then it'll never completely end, at most regress to the dark ages.

The only "true" end of the world is when all the stars will have burned out. But we have several billion years of technology ahead of us to find an answer to that.

 

Not so much the end of the world, but rather the end of the entire human race. Total, global population of the entire species.

 

Life has always been a struggle for mankind.

Our civilization may end because of bioterrorism, geologic disasters, climate change, or whatever.

Individually we are not permanent, but I believe our life form will survive.

 

Therein lies part of the problem.

something that will turn out to be shockingly positive.... over the long term.

Everything goes in cycles, and that is evident throughout human development.

Right now, we appear to be reaching a very real 'tipping-point' because of skyrocketing population increases -- especially in the 'have-not', Third World countries. A series of ever-more intense wars is likely to ensue, as well as more and more mass-migration. This leads to destabilization of prosperous, stable countries that have achieved successful lives for their citizens.

So, no "end-of-the-world" is coming, but I do see a marked move away from the concepts of 'Democracy' and the formation of 'Republics', and see those gradually replaced by varying kinds of alliances that result in a kind of new "Dark Ages", with underlying power-blocs very reminiscent of the world as seen in George Orwell's horrifying masterpiece, "1984".

The only thing that can prevent a change of that kind would be for the more powerful of the successful, 'mature' societies to band together and systematically kill-off about one-third (or more) of the world's current 7.8 billion humans, and reduce those numbers to something more like 2 billion.

The reality we face:

they could probably go about this by taking away good paying jobs, morale, dignity, giving medication, etc...

 

But our life form will evolve into something we would no longer recognize as human.

 

I speculate about the .01% of the global capitalists joining together and getting rid of 99% of the population. Gene editting will permit them to become trans-human keeping the rest of the humans around so they have someone to lord it over.

 

I think you're definitely on the right track. In addition to gene editing, I can also see extensive use of "augmentation" to create humans which will have computer technology added-to and/or embedded in their human physiologies, including the brain.

"Aug" example: a super-penis, that inflates and deflates as desired. Think of the possibilities....
