I posted this video at another political forum however the low membership and quality thereof did not elicit many intelligible replies.

The ideas of the video may also be considered for businesses to enhance their social networking and productivity. While of course not ignoring the free market principles of incentives, it offers another appraoch to what is obvious, yet often ignored.

To summarize one of the great points:

When profit motive is un-moored from the purpose motive, bad things happen.

A little quick to follow but I got the gist. It is quite entertaining more than anything using psychological conspets and method on a office type enviroment. Much are the simple conscepts of free enterprise with limited structure and various outcomes. I can see this as a learning tool for small scale management, with a lot of untested variables left out.. variables of environment, control group, culture, and interpersonal relationships with employees. Hence their supprise of their various outcomes.

Again very much entertaining, But the application in real time over a period of time will be the key to see if any of these methods would survive. And knowing when to apply and stop them will also be the key to using these methods.

If this has anything to do with management and production, I believe that oversight and management is the more important factor. Sure the schemes are a tool to use, but the ablity to assess each individuals capacity of skill as well as productivity, I feel are more significant. By knowing their ability you can monitor behavior and production, as well as apply these when needed to keep production up; And use these jolly environments to mix things up when the scheme changes. Or what I call "Work Activities", can also be used to enhance motivation and productivity. Another activity is to use competition to develop a cohesive unit. The military leaders are masters of developing and managing very tight units. And the ability of the unit can accomplish any task it is trained to do.

This is a very fascinating and provocative topic, so it’s basically too deep for most the people here. LOL!

My only problem is while they seem to be finding unique and ego based ways to get people motivated and do work for nothing, the companies, corporations, and/or industries seem to STILL be profit motivated.

Let’s see if any them want to produce products and services for “free”?

This might, however, be the first step to finding a way to create a world without the need for monetary exchange. If that same principle of motivation could be applied on a corporate & governmental level, the results might be surprising.

    Thanks for the video!

Well I would agree that voluntary cooperation is one of the best ways to work where little management is most effective however there are companies that still thrive off of oppressive management and poor working conditions. I wish more people would take the time to learn where their products come from and take pride and responsibility in who they support, than companies and initiatives that work based on this principle would do even better. However at large we live in a society that is very detached from production and is only interested in the products and its hype.
