I keep hearing about these experts that say a wall is not effective but for some reason nobody can provide who these experts are. Sounds more like average Liberal talking points. Just an FYI, Nobody at BP says their barriers don't work and all of them are asking for more border walls.

I don’t disagree with that...because the organization hopefully contains the full spectrum of services. You really need everyone from engineers to bean counters. But walls and fences ? Let’s get real, it’s pretty cut and dry as far as material goes. These things are made of material well understood by engineers and just as importantly, by those who determine their Proper installation.

Why don’t you put the blame where it belongs....at the feat of businesses that hire and promote illegals by visa over stays. Drugs come accross in volume in vehicles. . There is little profit being made bringing them by throwing it over a wall.
We e already tested the effectiveness of physical barriers. They don’t work away from population areas ; unless there is no job on the other side.
Why don’t we test......not hiring illegal immigrants, but only in legal ones.

I don't know how the bids went out. However in the aerospace industry, they would have specified a number of requirements. In this case, it might include some requirement that the wall cannot be breached in less than X amount of time using materials which could be carried by an individual. That is just a rough example. Not intended to be real. There would be more requirements The contractor would come up with a design which he believes would meet those requirement which would then be evaluated by the government.

My comment addressed her position that should be done by an engineer rather than a contractor. We would have never just gone to an engineer for this. It would have been to another contractor. The design engineers would be part of a team such as PMP (Parts, Materials Processes) cost estimators, test people, a specialist in physical security,.etc.

 

We did that but Democrats started screaming these Illegal Immigrants are doing jobs Americans won't do and by getting ride of them could collapse our economy. Democrats can't make up their minds as they flip flop back and forth to whatever to current craze is at the time.

Still trying to defend the businesses I see. It’s the businesses who are hiring them, not democrats. It’s greed. You have trouble acknowledging that don’t you ? How can you blame companies who hire them with your claim that this is the reason for Illegal Immigration while at the same time providing sanctuary cities, laws stopping ICE from deportation, and the request to eliminate ICE altogether. Sorry but that don't float.

The height of hypocracy. That has everything to do with it. This is why they come to the US, this how they stay. Without employment opportunities, they would not have come. Once established, the business community now has a hold on cheap controllable labor. If businesses did everything legally, immigrants would have legal status, and your whining about sanctuary cities would be more ridiculous then it is. Over time, you now have illegals living with legal in the same family. Now it’s up to local law to break up families ? It was all about the employment to begin with and the greed of corporations. If they did it legally, they would have to pay them minimum wages and offer benefits and healthcare....like everyone. Nope, it’s about the businesses.

So if you are so concerned about American businesses hiring Illegal Aliens for cheap labor and you feel that is the primary cause of Illegal immigration, and you agree they are illegal aliens, then why wouldn't you be just as adverse to sanctuary cities and the elimination of ICE. Do you know what comprehensive means ? Guess not. Once established you can’t ask locals to break up families. Comprehensive reforms means the employer has to assume responsibility and became a part if the process of identifying illegals and either extending their visas legally, or fire them . Then is up to the immigration authorities to deal with it. It’s not up to locals to deal with federal problems where there is only a federal solution. If businesses identified necessary labor and were part if extending the legalization process or firing them.....the problem would be minimized. Of course, they now need to pay them competitive wages....which us where greed comes in. Businesses like indentured servitude .
