Gab should open up a uncensored FB.

FB banned me after a few weeks.

Can a bank refuse to do business with anyone they want? Can a hospital? If not what makes Facebook so special?

So Facebook can be held responsible for people who publish things on it?

The proud boys are a "far-right militia" now? That's hilarious, and false.

    PROUD BOYS vs ANTIFA
    Preps vs Rejects
It seems for these people, high-school never ended.

This is wrong from a legal and practical standpoint. First of all, legally private platforms such as this forum or facebook are privately owned and those who agree to use the platform make certain agreements, which if those agreements are breached can result in a cessation of access to that platform. Facebook if it does nothing in light of the growing hate used on its platform, will risk not only losing investors, but also government regulation from the US or even the EU. To say it should be an absolutist free speech zone is simply nuts, given what one will find on places like Gab which are free speech absolutist zones online. And once you do that, everyone who isn't a raving racist will run for the hills.

    This forum, yes.

    Facebook, no.

The New Public Square most honor free speech.

What are you afraid of? The Left has at least 90% of the print and TV media. They have control over Hollywood and much of higher education. Seems to me that the Left tries to stamp out any conservative thought because they can't win the war of ideas and can't win debates based on reason and logic so the only way to brain wash the masses is to stifle any conservative voice.

Being a private company can only go so far. Some states have added political opinion to the list of things companies can't discriminate against. What would happen now that net neutrality is gone if an ISP started to cut service to Trump supporters or decided Right wing sites such as Breitbart are hate sites and blocked access to them?

Can anyone show how the proud boys are "far right" politically? Social issues, they are about center, so it would have to be their economic stances. Anyone? Beuller?

Facebook is a private corporation which has a purpose of making a profit for the owners and investors. Why should they be restrained from doing what is necessary to secure what is necessary for them, just because some people have absolutist perspectives on speech? Its not the law that they must do this, they willbe penalized heavily by investors, millions would leave the platform because it is no longer anything remotely to family friendly. Literally every incentive drives them to moderate hatred off their platform, and there are other options for insane amounts of hatred and conspiracy.

    Antifa is a group label.

    Black Bloc is a tactic.

    You are welcome.

Have they banned BLM and Antifa? Are they banning the other groups that call out the left wing rioters whenever a conservative is speaking somewhere?

Okay, I will take a stab. The Proud Boys are an organization of only men, which promote essentially alt-right views, though they have tried to rebrand themselves after Charlottesville as being pro-western values rather than it being about race. But they still show up at all the racist events. They were launched off of Richard Spencer's website, and their main intention is to make politics more violent. In order to become a member, you have to get in a major fight with the opposition. This on its own would make them far right extremists who are violent. Centrists don't go into the streets to start a brawl, these guys criticize Trump because he isn't supporting enough violence.

The absolutism of free speech is absolute, as is the absolutism of property rights. What is not absolute is Facebook’s ability to control speech; they can’t do it without a gun. However, the government has a gun, and it loves using it on anyone for anything at anytime. And that is what the right is arguing for. How bizarre.

No its not, the freedom of speech is not to be infringed by any laws passed by Congress, know your Constitution. Other institutions such as this forum, the job you work for or even Facebook are private arrangements. When you sign up an account on Facebook, you agree to THEIR terms, and can have your account suspended for breaching those terms. No violence necessary, and it does not include absolute censorship, it just has a large impact because Facebook is a monopoly.

No, they lean very far to the left. So does Twitter.
