For as long as I have been here and Im sure before that, the personal information of our members has been kept private. We take our members privacy seriously. We don't disclose IP addresses or email addresses unless there is a compelling reason for law enforcement to be made aware of a viable threat. We discourage and will remove information we believe is too personal that members have posted here. If this place disclosed personal information to a third party and I found out, I would absolutely feel obligated to speak on behalf of the members to the owner about it and to state as clearly as possible the members need to be informed.
Maybe the word got out on Wall Street that Vladimir Putin just bought some advertising spots for fake news on Face Book ?
Does a third party affiliated with Facebook have access to mobile phone information of Facebook users?
If you list your mobile number on FB (I do), only people you designate as 'friends' can see your personal info, incl phone #. Non members and non friends can only see what you mark 'public.' The way third parties get info is to ASK. For instance, a third party quiz went around, askin you to share random life facts with your friends. What was your first car, your first job, wheres your fav vacation spot... that kinda stuff. One friend fills it out and shares it with his friends so they can fill it out, etc. Not exactly personal banking info type stuff... but that's the gist of what info has been leaked.
Speaking of such. How come the owner's name is not public knowledge. Sounds about as Kosher as a corn dog at the cheap amusement park down by the old dockyards.
I heard that if you sign up for fakebook they'll give you a small glimpse of what they know about you.
NO ... Your facebook Info { data } is sold to those willing to pay for that Info.Sold by all means exclusively w/o knowledge of the Facebook users. That's kinda the point of the last 2 days Zuckerberg drilling by Congress. You really need to keep up with current events.
To further heighten and insult the intelligence of Americans with his Oh so innocent and sincere mug,Mark Zuckerberg claimed his Facebook has " severe competition from at least 8 major apps ". However in point of fact, his company owns 3 of the top 10 apps and cloned versions of the other apps. By going to APP ANNIE one can find the most popular apps. where Facebook own the top 3 listed. The Suckersberg stating " The average American I Think, uses 8 different communication and social apps." That's what ya " Think " eh bub.? I guess you'd know.Ya dint get stinkin' rich because you care about human beings like someone working for the Salvation Army or YMCA. So stop actin' like it ... Jew boy.
Ask them to email pics. Easy. But if you HAVE to use FB, it stands to reason that you wouldn't use your real name, or reveal any personal info. The only motivation one could have for using real name is 'attention seeking'. If you survived for decades without your old school 'friends' bombarding you with trivial details of their lives, you can continue. Your real friends and family know where to find you.
I KNOW how it works, dear. The gatherers gleaned the same info about me that I share with my friends and family. Its not financial info and it doesnt include my street address... but Im listed in the phone book if theyre interested. Why are you so paranoid?
No one quite knows for sure. That would be a key question to ask today at his Hearing.Probably buying trends and of course political persuation as was used to great effect as the Suckersberg worked with Obama in 2012 using Facebook to help Re-elect.
Because I don't like being Spied upon.I'm kinda funny that way. Again ... what a cutey pie galsy said last week. One thing most woman can't tolerate is a Peeping Tom. That was true for most my years on earth. Said cutey pie being the Southern Belle Marsha Blackburn.
Pfbbbt, you could leave your bedroom curtains open and I bet nobody would spy on you. Do you have heavy drapes? I sleep with my window open.
I think it if possible and feasible for a Peeping tom employed at facebook to someday do just that.Find a way to spy on me in me bed at beddie-bye time.As far as trends go ... It's coming to a neighborhood near you.Ray Bradbury and Rod Serling are no longer around. But they saw the light. How come you can't. An Orwellian style future. Not everything is sugar & spice and all things nice. In fact, the farthest thing from. I wish upon a star things weren't so. But wishing is a childs way of dealing with reality.
Im trying to understand this. Like I said, I don't have a Facebook account so Im researching exactly how this works with reference to Facebook contact lists. If you synced your mobile phone address book to the Facebook mobile app, Facebook then has a record of all your phone contacts. Not just Facebook 'friends'? Do they have a record of email addresses of non users?
If a Harvard grad was sophisticated enough to develop a breakthrough in algorithm in combination with Artificial Intelligence to break down social barriers and how humans can be influenced to think and behave.Like the way Obama uses Groupthink along with shaming in order to score political points.
I understand your point about the technology being there. I cant understand how a site can legally obtain private information from a 3rd party that is not affiliated with that site and that 3rd party has not consented. In other words someone you know who downloaded an app on Facebook that opened the door for every contact on their phone to be recorded without the individual contacts approval or knowledge. That's like a friend visiting and bringing a person you have never met in your house. The person you have never met then walks off with your private information. No? Maybe Im being naïve or misunderstanding this whole thing. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/11/...nformation-that-facebook-has-on-me-yikes.html
I have never signed up for FB and avoid most apps precisely because of what's happening. My car was in the shop so I was going to use Uber one day. If you check the fine print, you agree to give them access to everything on your phone, including control of your camera, if you install their app! No thanks. I'll use a taxi!!! And guess what... taxis are just as cheap as Uber now.
I have a piece of black tape over the camera on my computer. It is the most effective anti-malware technology available for cameras.
I smiled reading that. We put a piece of cotton and then some black electrical tape over the camera lens on the computer when we set it up. We related that to being cautious in that regard as a basic survival type instinct. The survival instinct that says it is best to be aware of your surroundings and potential situations that may be detrimental to you or your family and limiting that vulnerability if you can, as best as you can.
You could almost picture it. Its dark outside. One lonely street light is dimly lite. The interior lights are on in an impeccably well kept home. The curtains are drawn back. A stylisly dressed woman with freshly done nails puts down her burrito and is leaning forward on her sofa anxiously awaiting the Cowboys to snap and kick the football. Four seconds left on the clock. The ball is snapped. The kickers foot meets the ball for the Super Bowl winning score and..... https://www.consumerreports.org/tel...vulnerable-to-hacking-consumer-reports-finds/
