But what does that actually mean? Did he present false information? No. Did he hide information? No. What was the CDC saying? What was Fauci saying. He was being overly positive. But he wasn’t lying. He didn’t tell people it wasn’t dangerous. He said it was of varying danger to different people which is true. LYING is claiming children are in the same danger as the elderly, like the MSM was doing in order to scare people. Speaking of elderly. Repeating he played it down by not creating panic is NOT lying. Creating a mass panic so people start doing more than hoarding toilet paper would have been far more dangerous. Same with masks. People were hoarding supplies because the MSM was making people nuts and causing a panic.

For someone playing it down, why did he want to ban travel from China and other countries in late January, while Biden called him a racist for doing so? Per Dr. Fauci, everything Trump relayed to the public was consistent with his briefings. Trump raised the alarm about this virus in his SOTU address on February 4th and was called an alarmist. He stopped travel from China and was called a xenophobe. The media was downplaying the virus clear into early March. Trump shut down travel from China in late January while Pelosi was encouraging large gathering in Chinatown in late February.

Yes, I do agree that Trump did downplay the virus, but he was not the only one doing so. There were entities that downplayed it much more than he did and for much longer.
