Let's hope the campaign gains strength and more International players join them.
Time to turn up the International pressure and there is no better way than by involving football.

We, as European football players, express our solidarity with the people of Gaza who are living under siege and denied basic human dignity and freedom. The latest Israeli bombardment of Gaza, resulting in the death of over a hundred civilians, was yet another stain on the world's conscience.

We are informed that on 10 November 2012 the Israeli army bombed a sports stadium in Gaza, resulting in the death of four young people playing football, Mohamed Harara and Ahmed Harara, 16 and 17 years old; Matar Rahman and Ahmed Al Dirdissawi, 18 years old.

We are also informed that since February 2012 two footballers with the club Al Amari, Omar Rowis, 23, and Mohammed Nemer, 22, have been detained in Israel without charge or trial.

It is unacceptable that children are killed while they play football. Israel hosting the UEFA Under-21 European Championship, in these circumstances, will be seen as a reward for actions that are contrary to sporting values.

Despite the recent ceasefire, Palestinians are still forced to endure a desperate existence under occupation, they must be protected by the international community. All people have the right to a life of dignity, freedom and security. We hope that a just settlement will finally emerge.

As individuals in life I am all for their right to express themselves. However, as valid as their personal opinions are (and I applaud their mobilised solidarity) I would still prefer not to hear extra weight given to the opinions of celebrities or professional sports people by virtue of their fame or personal wealth.

Well, the remaining 50,000 top European football players, from English Premier and first division teams in Europe do not condemn Israel and do not call for boycott.

PS the overwhelming majority of players on your list are not just mediocre players not known outside their mediocre clubs (with the exception of Drogba perhaps), their names don't sound European all that much either - they are africans, arabs, turks, not europeans.

That's good news, Abu. There must be very suspicious circumstances surrounding the decision to hold a tournament in Israel. The organisation responsible should be investigated.

I just love the islamofascist tactics - with one or two exceptions these footballers are not famous, most of them are not Europeans and their numbers are less than a fraction of one percent of European players. But what's a few lies and exaggerations between Israel-haters.

Right...just one out of a million of holes leads to the sinking of the Titanic, the rest are easily fixed :) Keep dreaming though while you are kissing the feet of your new pharaoh.

if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a happy holiday.

Assume = make an ass of u and me

It's not that people hate Israel or jews per se, its that Isreal commits crimes against humanity and breaks international law.

they hate countries who do those things and Israel just happens to be one.

Hmm, every one of Israel's enemies commits 1000 times more crimes against humanity every day than Israel allegedly does. That includes the Palestinians, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan and pretty much all other muslim/African/3rd world nations. And unlike Israel they are not surrounded by 23 states vowing to wipe them off the map, they occupy far more than Israel's 0.2% of the regional land and they are not outnumbered 75 to 1 (vs arabs only, excluding non-arab muslims like Iran).

A certain segment of the population tends to single Israel out of course. In the grand scheme of things the fringe freaks are totally irrelevant. This thread is a good example - a tiny fraction of mediocre and obsucre non-european born soccer players from mediocre european clubs are bleating something about the most complicated conflict of the millennium that they can't possibly comprehend (they are young poorly-educated, dumb soccer players, not rocket scientists, remember?). Who gives a f*ck? LOL

IOF jets currently flying over Gaza causing sonic booms in efforts to provoke and terrorize Gazans into retaliation.

So far 17 documented Israeli violations of ceasefire agreement.

No retaliation to date December 3rd 10.00 by Hamas
