Great job turning a rap song into actual music. It is in Swedish, but who cares? Music is a language in itself. :p

    Not a "cover" in the typical sense as the author/owner is pretty much unknown and the song is more of a "traditional" one than a "popular" one. Nonetheless, I like this song and think the girl has a nice voice;

It's still a cover, even if it's an old folk traditional tune'

It's just 'public domain' so it is owned, but; by you, the public.

Same with songs where the composer died over 50 years ago in the UK and US I believe.

I know my country and American are twins in this respect and also do cross representation. PRS members use ASCAP/BMI in the US, ASCAP/BMI members use PRS in the UK; Ever since the early 1900s..
I know in Japan it's 25 years after it's written regardless of alive or dead before it becomes public domain.
I also think Sweden don't acknowledge it? IDK
But I know Communist China doesn't. So don't have to pay royalties on works from our countries, and in exchange, we can play their's for free too..

I am a poster with a CAE number too.
These are (old now) (probably being phased out) international numbers that composers have that tells the world what they've written etc... So their country's PRO (Performing Rights Org') can pay them into their bank accounts.
This is tied in from record sales with mechanical payments and TV and Radio broadcasting. Music can also be licensed for Movies and Video games.
A judge in America also ruled that playing music from a cell phone (or other device) did not constitute as a public performance.

Most my stuff has YouTube notification since it's on YouTube.
I just record, upload, tell PRS in the YouTube usage section, and done deal.
I can sleep happy not ripping anybody off for their music.

Like, Guns N' Roses and some record companies now own this song...

So they get their dues if YouTube pays out.

YouTube pays out £5.00 per 10,000 views.

not bad but since you put that up lets do the original and the greatest along with the even better song it usually turned into

IMHO the ELEVEN is one of the greatest jam pieces ever done. so much texture in that tune

Lots of songs that are very popular are often covers that people are unaware of

    1) I still run into people who think Jimmy Hendrix was the original author of HEY JOE

    2) or that the Clash wrote I Fought the Law

    3) and I heard dozens talk about Sheryl Crow's Great Cover of ROD STEWART's THE FIRST CUT/ in reality Cat Stevens was the original author, as was Neil Diamond the original author of Red Red Wine, not the group that popularized it UB40

this often happens when the original artist's version got almost no airplay. I don't think I ever hear Cat Stevens FIRST CUT until i subscribed to satellite radio

a band originally from my home town did a killer version of Morning Dew-a DJ claimed it was a cover of a grateful dead song. In reality , Bonnie Dobson wrote it and performed it and then a guy named Tim Rose ripped it off and tried to claim it was his. Dozens of artists covered it including famous performers like the recently deceased and incomparable Gregg Allman, Nazareth, and Jeff Beck.

The only one I knew was a cover was Crow's cover of Stewart's song. Not sure what it was about Crow but I've never liked her.

I demand genre and period appropriate attire and hairstyle for your act. Something lita ford-esque would be just fine.

This band from Australia say Sweet Child O' Mine ripped them off and that it was stolen.

I can hear some similarities but I think there are enough differences where Guns n Roses doesn't have to worry too much about it.

So? What do you think? Did they steal the song?
