Many types of diversity factors play a role in admissions. Geography, gender, activities, background, race, socio-economic background, and age are considered, since colleges value having a well rounded student body with varied life experiences. All of these students still have to meet grade and score requirements.

I was going with them becoming a Demo activist or being involved in an Anti Trump Protest.

They don't have to meet the SAME grade and score requirements and that's the problem. Merit alone, period.

That's because after a certain baseline score their qualifications have been established and other criteria are considered.

    Ask and you shall recieve:

Michelle Obama, daughters' personal tennis instructor charged in college bribery scheme
"A tennis coach who worked with the family of former President Barack Obama was among the 50 people charged Tuesday in a college admissions scheme in which wealthy parents allegedly bribed coaches and others to get their children accepted to some of the top schools in the U.S.

Gordon Ernst, 52, was a former tennis coach at Georgetown University and the University of Rhode Island. He is accused of conspiracy to commit racketeering while he was at Georgetown.

Ernst was at Georgetown from 2012 to 2017 and was the personal instructor of former first lady Michelle Obama and her daughters, Sasha and Malia, according to the Providence Journal. None of the Obamas are implicated in the scandal in any way."

Democratic Donors Charged in College Admissions Scam
"Huffman, when not acting, is a generous donor to Democratic candidates. Huffman has donated thousands of dollars since 2016 to Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.), according to the Federal Election Commission's site. Prior to that, she donated frequently to President Barack Obama's election efforts."

"Caplan gave the maximum allowable donation to Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. He donated an additional $25,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund and $22,300 to the Democratic National Committee in 2016, months before Clinton lost to Donald Trump. Caplan began giving to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.) in 2005.
During the 2018 midterms, Caplan shelled out thousands of dollars to support Democratic candidates in Connecticut, Indiana, Florida, Arizona, and Nevada. His lavish political spending used to be bipartisan. In 2011 and 2012, he gave tens of thousands of dollars to both Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney's presidential campaigns."

"Huneeus gave $33,400 to Clinton's super PAC. He's given over $150,000 the DNC and DCCC, $60,000 the Nancy Pelosi Victory Fund, $10,000 to Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) and thousands more to various other California candidates."

"Buckingham is also a generous donor to the Democratic Party. She gave $35,800 to the Obama Victory Fund and $30,800 to the DNC in 2012. She gave more than $22,000 to support Gillibrand's races."

"Of the 50 people charged in the college scandal, the Washington Free Beacon found only one gave consistently to Republican candidates. Mossimo G. Giannulli, founder of the clothing company Mossimo, Inc., is married to actress Lori Loughlin. He and his wife gave over $500,000 to secure admission to USC for his two daughters via the crew team. Neither daughter rows. He supported Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) in 2016, and Romney and John Boehner before that. He has also donated to Democrats."

Well this explains why I didn't get into Yale.

With that said, I'm not at all that surprised to see rich liberal Hollywood elites behaving this way. The rich get richer, all animals are equal, some are just more equal then others.....

It must make liberals FURIOUS that their well documented graft and corruption is coming out. How on earth did this happen? Didn't they pay good money to have Hillary enthroned? And now what? They are being subjected to prosecution from the DOJ they thought that they have paid to be immune from...

Folks, the wheels on the NDP bus are surely falling off. When liberals find out they can't just extort or bully their way to success, whatever will they do?

Who knows? How many were accepted just because of their skin color or gender? A LOT!!! In order for someone to be accepted someone else has to be denied, so do the math. Yes, its more than just about money. Its about merit. AA undermines merit. It was specifically created, YES, created, to give less qualified people a chance. And NO, AA has NEVER been about only finding equally qualified people, since that doesn't exist. But it looks pretty in the description. Its impossible to find 2 people equally qualified, who have equal experience and personality traits, since a job is NOT about what's on a piece of paper. Your personal skills and how you portray yourself at the interviews, often mean a lot more than where you worked or what school you graduated from...those of us who hire people know this. AA is about giving people a shot and that shot more often than not, involves being very fudgy with the experience or qualification part of the equation. I have years of experience with this, because I was told to only look at "THESE" candidates or please give special attention to so and so you're seeing today. Its illegal you see to come right out and say it, since its blatant discrimination, but careful wording lets you skirt around the issue.

And its not even hidden. Harvard has been caught red handed with Asians. Many colleges are blatant in denying white males engineering spots in order to make room for women for example. Hollywood has been very up front about it the past few years with their awards. Corporate America is loaded with it. Its very obvious to anyone in HR or management.

I agree with the concept of AA but not in the execution. I believe in giving qualified people a shot, even under-qualified people who show potential. What I don't believe in is QUOTAS.

The knee jerk reaction is from your ilk. You suggest that any type of malfeasance committed that hits the mass media is a result of liberals. I simply suggested that all of those involved here are not liberals or democrats.

Still whining about Republicans being picked on eh? Boy, Dick Nixon started that gag back in ‘62 when he got beat in the California Governors race by Pat Brown and whining has become a trademark of the old GOP....

I have lived in Southern California for 55 years now and every rich brat that I know that went to USC is a big time Republican. People have been buying their way into that place for as long as I can remember. Also, your type thinks that any place where people learn to read books and think for themselves is a liberal stronghold which includes about 99% of all universities. Maybe Trump University, Jerry Falwell U and BYU are the only safe places to send your kids....lol

Where have you been for the last 25 years. As USC flipped. Of course all those Humanity Courses should have been a clue to you. But only if your kind could read and not just look at the pictures.

Oh and its not our kind that don't know History. Or about the Constitution, Or civics, or on how to balance and read a checkbook. LMAO.

The entire “elite” university thing is overhyped.

I have a master’s degree. I attended two schools as an undergraduate and two as a grad student. Two of the schools were public and two were private. They were in the Northeast, Midwest, and Southwest. Three of the four were “elite”. I’ve been everywhere.

But the school where I learned the most and had the most fun was the school that was the lowest rated academically. It was still a very good school and it was my favorite.

Elite means nothing. The whole thing is very petty.

Whining? Whining is you. Me, I'm merely pointing out, all of the perpetrators are the Democrats.
