I am sure you would have been a good teacher. Sometimes you end up making a choice that you would not have made at the time that ends up being the right choice. I have actually found that teachers I know were happier than doctors or lawyers I know. They get to make a difference in children's lives, which is fulfilling enough in itself, and also often children love them.

That is not true as much anymore. Practically every June I get calls to speak to teachers who are leaving and try to encourage them to stay.
they say the same thing....they can make more money in other fields and not have to put up with the disrespect. An example here is the guy I confused you with who said those who do do , and those who can’t , teach
I had the most Incredible experience a couple of years ago. About 16 “kids” Found me on Facebook and we met in New York. They gave me a plaque and it was fantastic. The best part is they were my first and second-year classes and now they are grandmothers and grandfathers.!
Another fun thing is a superstar is kind enough to mention me repeatedly
I strongly believe that teaching is a talent and I knew my daughter had it but someone actually said to her, “you’re so bright why be a teacher?”
So she went to a great University and majored in English and was going to go into the business world. She did and hated it. PS she is now a guidance counselor in high school and absolutely loves it. I would encourage your daughter to be a teacher and have the experiences my daughter and I have.

I have maintained good friendships with several of my former teachers, and they have been highly influential in my life.

The two most influential ones were one named Hughlings Himwich and one named Henry Biddle. You could not find two more different men. Himwich was a flamboyant man with a huge beard who was a raving atheist, and Biddle was a quiet, kindly older gentleman who was a devout Christian. Both of them saw in me extraordinary ability and wanted to nurture it. Of course there were problems with this that they may not have expected, such as for example them treading on ground that some other people thought belonged to them. So I have done some of the things that Himwich hoped I would do, such as translate a large body of Russian poetry (https://sites.google.com/site/ibshambat and https://sites.google.com/site/ibshambat/russian-songs). As for Biddle, I regret to say that I disappointed his expectations and so far have not done much in the field in which he taught.
