I have read 6 books on the Gulags and Stalin's history involving Russia/USSR. The Germans sent to the Gulags, only a small fraction survived to make it home and that was after at the very least 10 years of hard labor in Siberian Gulags. Most died.

America never forced any German prisoners to hard labor in extreme cold where most had to work until they died.
