Soooooo……what happens if she does not want to adopt at that point? Are you going cheer as they take the baby from her and sell it anyway? I mean the Catholic Church made good money from forced adoptions

I disagree. I think a girl can be at an age where she is mature enough to decide to have sex and have a baby, but not mature enough to get an abortion.

Or in this case, decide to dabble in sex, even though that means a risk of an unintended baby.

That's not the case here. She will get to choose to keep the baby if she wants.

I think she should be allowed to keep the baby if she wants.

Only if she wants, otherwise there is adoption.

Keep in mind by the time the baby is older she will be more mature.

We have set a goal to leave Florida as soon as possible. Perhaps out of country; Aruba and Canada are both compelling. Perhaps west, but not California. 3rd world state coming to a city near you. The far right are as scary as the far left. What to do. Sigh.

How do you know it was her choice?

And is she mature enough to parent a child if she is not mature enough to decide not to have a child in the first place

The child can join the 115,000 children waiting for adoption right now ...
If anti-abortionists want to be taken seriously, then that number should always be at zero.
But that's not what this is about - it's not about the children, it's about control of women.

Then an intrauterine DNA test would be able to confirm it was incest. If that was the case.

So it's not about the child - it's about making YOU feel better. If it's a child of rape, then it can be aborted, but if not - it can't. You understand
how silly that argument is if the new born is your top concern.

Then why has this not been ordered since the father supposedly also has an interest? And I would be opting for a “non-invasive” pregnancy test as it is far less dangerous

That tired old nonsense. It has zip to do with controlling women.

It’s about when the baby becomes a human deserving the protections all people have.

And abortionists know that’s the issue and they are losing, they can’t justify late abortion any longer, they are on a slippery slope. So they try to change the issue to “controlling women”.

Why don't you Democrats adopt some illegal aliens into your household?

Does it work both ways or only one way?

Bowerbird, read the story. This story has nothing to do with rape.
The article quotes the court statement as saying "the father is unable to assist her."

    It's rape if she's underage.

You're phrasing it in different terms than I would.

They might not be mature enough to have sexual intercourse... but if they do have sexual intercourse (anyway, even though they're not mature enough) and a fetus starts growing in there, then they might not be mature enough to decide to terminate it.

She perhaps shouldn't be having a baby, but once the baby is already there then she shouldn't not have the baby.

She might not be mature enough to decide to have a baby if she is not already pregnant. When she gets pregnant, that changes the situation.

if she is mature enough to have a baby, that she is mature enough not to have one

do you really think a nanny government that decides for them is better?

You're just playing a semantics game with that one, like I already explained.

I totally agree she's mature enough to decide not to get pregnant.

Ok, so a 10yo is usually in 5th grade.

Did she get her information from school? Are you a proponent of having education ensure that 5th graders are well informed on sex and pregnancy issues, on rape, on choice, on prophylaxis, on how to determine pregnancy, on what to do if one finds they are pregnant?

Were her parents effective in conveying that information to their daughter? What about kids who don't have parents?

So, you claim she's mature enough.

But, that is OBVIOUSLY not good enough.

You are talking about a 10yo. The story in the opening post is about a 16yo.

Are you saying that your comments on abortion don't apply to those younger than 16?
