Florida has been for a very long time a swing state and since the 2020 census is worth 30 electorial votes. It has a mixed population including a large Cuban Hispanic population. Florida since 2016 has seen a big shift towards the Republican party including the Cuban Hispanics.

Democrats have always enjoyed a nice lead in registered voters for as long as I can remember. That has changed since 2016. In order to win the state Democrats will have to rely on the independent vote or get votes from Republicans. Even the Senate race in the midterms looks unlikely to go in favor of the Democratic party.

Now the numbers are showing strong support for the Republican party. Several counties have recently stated they saw double the new registered voters over Democrats. In the month of June alone the Republican party saw over 12,000 new registered voters.

    Florida Democratic Party 2015:
    4,520,265
    Florida Democratic Party 2016:
    4,905,705
    Florida Democratic party 2021:
    5,235,110 (+329,405)

    Florida Republican Party 2015:
    4,193,586
    Florida Republican Party 2016:
    4,575,277
    Florida Republican Party 2021:
    5,171,510 (+596,233)

The Democrats had a lead of about 330,000 registered voters after 2016 and it's gone. Well almost.

    Democrats:
    April: 89,705 registered voter lead.
    May: 76,284
    June: 63,600

For the month of May Republicans saw a increase of over 13,000 voters and over 12,000 new voters in June. July's numbers will be out soon. This means Republicans are on pace to wipe out that lead and pull ahead of Democrats this year. By 2024 who knows how big the lead will be.

The big shift started in 2016 with Trump and continues with Ron Desantis. The Democrats not taking the Cuban protests seriously and Democratic b's also hurt them.

Yeah, but out of the 12,000 who registered, how many have died from COVID? Using GOOGLE I found that more than 12,000 Floridians died from COVID just in the month of July. Perhaps no way of knowing but I would guess most of those deaths were non-vaxxers and that strongly suggests trumpers.

Now if you just subtracted the number of Republicans who died during the same time frame you
would have a more accurate picture, wouldn't you ...

I am and will remain a registered democrat so I don’t end up on their hit list

Anyone who would belong to any political party needs medical help.
Vote the candidate - not the party.

Yes, that is the biggest part of the picture. Cubans know what socialism is and they know firsthand how it starts: Just give government full control, let us take away some of your rights for the greater good of society, and we'll take care of you. There will be no super poor and no super rich and you will all get free healthcare, and we'll even make this socialism a democracy so, if you don't like it, you can just vote against it later on. LOL.

The real power in Florida rests with the roughly 4 million registered voters who do not belong to either major party.

They will have a bigger effect on presidential elections.

I think Trump had majority of thier votes in 2020.

Even still the Republican party by 2024 May have a big lead in registered voters.

Interesting point but not all independents or Democrats take the vaccine.

Its easy to see why so many won't vote democrat.

BTW Bidens treatment of Cubans is no different from what he did the the Vietnamese in 70s/80s.

He did everything he could to prevent them from coming to the US.

Biden did not even take the Cuban protests seriously. He only seems to care about the illegals hopping our southern border.

Biden's aproval ratings continue to drop too.

The Democrats are hoping to win a Senate seat there with Val Demings but I just don't think the voters in Florida want any more Democrats in power.

    UPDATE:

Democrats are down to a 23,551 registered voter advantage in Florida.

Since June they have lost over 40,000 voters.

I'm not sure it's really becoming more conservative:
