Of course. Its someone who claims to be conservative, but in reality is pretty much the opposite, almost to a point where they are anti-conservative. Typically they still use conservative lingo, but they embrace current RW populist politics which is incompatible with conservatism.

You don't know what populism is? It can be either left or right, - its pretty much what appeases the masses at any given time. Instead of being defenders of old principles, like conservative principles, they steer people away from it by associating them with words like "elites", "deep state" and "establishment". Most recently in US it was utilized by Trump who managed to get loyalists to rail against free markets by re-naming it "globalism", and got them to rail against free press, by calling them "enemies of the State", got them to rail against law enforcement by pretending they were mistreating him, got them to reject democracy by talking about stolen elections. An example of left-wing populist is a movement like 'occupy wall street", which fizzled and died, but it also promoted the "anti-elite" and "anti- establishment" ideals.

Wrong. Pseudo cons also called neocons have semi conservative domestic views but very interventionist foreign policy. Their meddling in other nations and warmongering is the defining trait. They got the US into the war with Iraq which destabilized the entire Middle East region.

The Bush’s and Cheney and Rove are neocons.

Populism is typically based on rallying “the people” against some “elite” group. It can be accurate or fake. Democrats are populists, so is Trump.

Your TDS blinds you to much of what is happening.

No, Neo-Cons and Pseudo-Cons are not same. Pseudo-Cons were actually opposite of Neo-Cons when it came to foreign policy. Pseudo-Cons can be one thing today, and something else tomorrow, which is why I call them "Populist Pseudo-Cons".

    Pseudo=not genuine; spurious or sham.

Correct. They were into interventionist foreign policy, which makes them Neo-Cons, but they had actual conservative stances too.

No, I do not suffer from mental issues. How about you?

I wondered about the term pseudo con so I did some research. It’s an old term first used in the 1950s and had the meaning you describe - someone pretending to be conservative but really a lefty. It came up mainly when Barry Goldwater put forward true conservative ideals, gained support, and the establishment Republicans and Democrats saw it as a threat to their power so they started to co-opt the language. Their policies didn’t change, they just pretended to support conservatism. Hence they were labeled pseudo con.

It’s not a common term today except in lefty sites, and not much there.

A few people such as Bill Krystal have used it in the past 10 years but they equate it with neocon.

The current (last 20 years) label for people giving lip service to conservative ideals but actually supporting left leaning policy is RINO.

No, not necessarily a lefty, but not conservative either. There are more views than just 'right vs left'

I have never been to a lefty site, so I wouldn't know. Its a word I chose because it fits the bill.

Not lip service to conservative ideals, but lip service to the Republican party line. The "R" stands for Republican, not conservative. Pseudo-conservatism IS what the Republican party has become, so now you are called a RINO unless you are a pseudo-con. Real conservatives are called RINO these days for disagreeing with the party line.

You are not a conservative so it can be excused that you mistakenly say “real conservatives are called RINO”. A RINO is a person who pays lip service to conservative values but who’s actions are not conservative.

You are not conservative, which might explain why you don't know the 'R' in RINO stands for Republican, not conservative. I am conservative on surprisingly many issues. As a matter of fact I fall in the moderate side of the conservative/libertarian square every time I take the political compass test. How about you?

And yes, there are true conservatives who have been called RINO over disagreements over party line. I did not mean to say ALL real conservatives are called RINO just for being conservative. Either you read it wrong, or I said it wrong.

Democrats be all "White opression!" "White privledge" "CRT!" "Whites need to shut up!" "Whites need to go to anti bias training" "This is a no whites space!" "Only white people can be racist!"

And then they get shocked when whites start becoming more racist...

    lol.

Uh, no. YOU are all "CRT." That's thoroughly a wrong-wing obsession.

From your posts in this forum I do not believe for 1 second you are a conservative or a constitutionalist.

Of course the “R” is for Republican as in the Republican Party ideals, it does not mean the GOP establishment. No GOP establishment person ever uses the term RINO because they are RINOs. RINO means a person who has betrayed the ideals of the Republican platform. If you were a conservative you would know this stuff.

Sure, same to you, and I am not asking you to believe it. It is what it is. Besides, I do not call myself conservatize, I specifically said I am conservative on surprisingly many issues, meaning many of my views on issues lean that way. Are you conservative on issues, or do you think you are one because you are a registered Republican and because you idolize their political leaders?

I know exactly what it means, and it amazes me that you just agreed to what I said, and yet at the same time try to insist I don't know what it means. I literally just explained the same thing to you.

I just explained that to you, and he you are trying to explain it back to me.

Republican platform <> Conservative platform. Modern Republican platform is pseudo-conservative platform, and yes, you can be solid conservative and be labeled RINO unless you toe the party line.

No you did not. You have it backwards and suggest "RINO" is used by the establishment to label conservatives who disagree with the Republican platform. RINO is used by grassroots Republicans to identify R party politicians who say conservative words but legislate an anti-conservative agenda.

It does not seem you comprehend what you read. I never said anything about establishment. I simply gave you one example.

It can, and is, used by any Republican to mock fellow Republicans who disagree with party line. Look at Trump, for example who Regan would have called a RINO, who called any Republican who disagreed with him a RINO. There is no standard for the use of the term, like there is no standard for use of any other term.

Everyone knows what the term means, so why you even argue about it?
