This case could serve as an elementary illustration of why having so many guns around is so problematic and should be disallowed. People regularly commit very deadly crimes using guns out of emotional impetus. Basically, having a gun around when a bad situation develops potentially makes it much worse than it would have been otherwise, leading to lost and shattered lives.
