The Greek actor Aris Servatalis will be playing the part of Saint Nektarios in Yelena Popovic's upcoming movie: Man of God. I found what he said so inspiring that I'm posting it here and waiting for the responses from the usual Christianphobes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- People in general have weaknesses. What comforts in the Church is that we recognize our weaknesses and we ask our Creator to strengthen us. When asked about his relationship with God Aris said: My relationship with God is personal, God approaches you at your own pace, slowly, and there lies absolute freedom. Only God can create a being so free that it can deny Him. It is a unique and majestic thing, and there you realize what freedom means. We have not yet learned what Orthodoxy means. Most people think that the Church is conservative. Orthodoxy is so subversive that we cannot comprehend it. The Church is freedom. To the question of how he got to know God: God is a Master. It is enough that you seek to find Him. If you find Him, He won't let you go. The most difficult thing is getting to know yourself. If you begin within yourself, it is a revolutionary path. We are people with passions which are tied to our evolution. The only way to get rid of them, is to get in touch with our manufacturer. Asked about playing Saint Nektarios: You do not play Saint Nektarios. The Saint is alive. You just allow it. http://www.honeyandhemlock.com/2020...UAM71pXjJcwaAcBO1ORqFx0kemJPYAAx7OEZLseTcmJPI
I think the bashers must be tired. They've been busy lately venting frustrations. I'm not familiar with your denomination. It's been interesting reading your posts.
The Orthodox is very Eastern and split with Rome in 1054 over the supremacy of the Pope. There are 5 Patriarchates who had direct succession from the Apostles; Rome, Constantinople, Jerusalem, Antioch and Alexandria. The Pope was always the first among equals, but as the Church in Rome changed culturally from a Greek/Latin Church into a Frank/Latin Church, the Pope became more authoritative - thus the schism.
Regardless of your affiliation....the Body of Christ transcends all of that. I am thankful for you and your boldness!
I've read the Bible. You're wrong. There's a reason why the Church never stood for any kind of religious freedom (apart from their own) until they were defanged by the Enlightenment's secularism.
