Your "f" key is broke. And you are right, I do not even know what day it is, I have no room to talk here.

Hello Guru SenaxFlatulus ,,, I guess the thing that confuses me the most as a newbie on PF is that when I get a notification that someone has replied to my post , I have a hard time finding it , and a harder time replying to that specific person... Is that allowed on PF to go back & forth with a discussion , or is it just a collection of one liners and quotes ???

also , what's the deal on getting points ? It seems like that's the quest here on PF , and if that's the game , then I'll play it , but I don't quite understand it yet...: )

What do you think is the best display mode for a newbie ?

Als, what's the best way to set up thread tracking ?

One way to keep track of threads you've posted on is to click on 'User CP' at the top left of this page. That will list all the threads that have new replies that you've posted in. Once you go back to a thread you've posted on if you want to reply to a specific point you can do so by quoting it. That's how discussions here happen.

Most people don't bother with Credits much.

    Default.

Use the User CP. I've disabled thread tracking to keep my email inbox clear.

It's a little easier to set your notifcations so you only get notification on threads you wish to continue taking part in. If you post in an off topic thread for example, you don't want to get a million and one notifications of responses to your post, do you?

It would depend on how often you post, too. I don't have any notifications set up - I'd get about 1000 of them a day!:omg:

Intense adulation makes the descent more rocky, painful, and both slow and fast at the same time.

My posts aren\'t showing up, but it\'s not notifying me that they are being reviewed.

I joined yesterday, before realizing that an unknown number of initial posts undergo a vetting process, and made a couple of innocuous posts. Neither have seen print as yet. Content couldn't possibly be an issue, which leaves two other possibilities: 1. an admin hasn't gotten around to viewing/applying a stamp of approval or 2. there's been a decision made to suspend acceptance of newcomers.

Any idea if or when the gag might be removed - or should I take my opinionated self elsewhere?

I'm a student who is obsessed with politics, you name it and I'll probably give you my two cents about it! I hope I can use this forum as a venue for not only posting my own thoughts but learn from others as well!

It's generally the first three or four posts. Depending if anyone is online to validate your posts, it may take an hour or so for them to show up - but they will. Give us time to get to them! :)

:relax: yeah , PF really bird dogs their site.. they work hard to keep the nuts and the crazies out , but you can say pretty much what you want as long as you don't go after the poster in a personal way , you need to be respectful , even if you disagree....:frustrated: Hope that helps...:juggle:

Freedom of speech within the TOS is highly encouraged. We have members with VERY unusual ideas (some extremely controversial) but as long as those ideas are presented in a manner as to generate discussion, they are very welcome. Basically, say what you think in a manner that will provoke thought, not just an emotional response.

I think it's after 10 days or 5 posts, whichever comes first.

Did the system go down when you tried? I commented in a few threads and all of the sudden I was kicked out of the forum. It may have been my system or the internet in general. Not sure. Nevertheless, my post's did not appear.

    Oh well, moving on.

Last couple of days I've been getting "database error". Sometimes it clears up in a matter of minutes, sometimes it's a whole day.

This site has it's "moments" and I'm not sure what causes them. Not an IT geek so I just go with the flow.

You can always tell when that's gonna happen. Computer slows down and takes yonks to make the post...and you sit there and think 'Bugger it, it's gonna come up that blasted database (*)(*)(*)(*) again' and what do you know, it does.

I always have to remind myself it's the site, and not my computer. It's taken a few beatings when it was actually innocent of any wrong doing.
