Dear Foreigners, and YOU know who you are. You non-:flagus: types.

How does our holiday "Thanksgiving" strike you?
Does it make sense for a secular nation to set aside a day of Thanks to; "To Whom It May Concern".
That bothered my France/French loving father annually. :blankstare:

Canadians have it too don't they? What intrigues me is that it seems to be more important than Christmas nowadays. I think I understand it, a bit anyway, but it's yours so good luck to you and enjoy it.

    Dear Foreigners,

Remember, we have Halloween too. Not a day off but the second most spending holiday after X-Mas.

If you want a "foreign" holiday worth remembering,
Remember Guy Faulkes and Guy Faulkes Day.

Imagine a holiday for someone who almost blew up Congress while in session. Dream on.

This is about T'giving a holiday of spirit, and y'know all religions accept it here in America.
    Even most atheist.

Why can't people just get along like good Americans?

Our news tells us you have a feasting time around now. Last years was about a quaint custom of frying a twenty pound turkey in a huge pot to burn down your garage. Captain Kirk was in it.

Fawkes, actually. And we don't get a day off because it isn't a holiday.

Ya, we make big meals and watch football. None of us care about what happened years ago.

the first thanksgiving was following the Pilgrims helping their hosts slaughter another tribe. the date we celebrate now is to commemorate the dedication of the cemetary at Gettysbury. maybe you just need more epic slaughters?

Do some research into the Pequot War. You'll realize that that is what we are celebrating.

Oblong ball doesn't have a very good ring to it, but we do have foot to ball contact during punts and kickoffs, so that's good enough for us.

You don't seem to do humour very well...but don't you keep up with the news?

    http://money.cnn.com/gallery/news/economy/2013/07/10/worlds-shortest-work-weeks/

"Americans work an average of 38 hours a week, even after factoring in part-time jobs. Here are 10 industrialized nations where workers have shorter hours."

#1 Netherlands - Average hours per week: 29
#2 Denmark - Average hours per week: 33
#3 Norway - Average hours per week: 33
#4 Ireland - Average hours per week: 34
#5 Germany - Average hours per week: 35
#6 Switzerland - Average hours per week: 35
#7 Belgium - Average hours per week: 35
#8 Sweden - Average hours per week: 36
#9 Australia - Average hours per week: 36 (OOOPS!)

Likewise NFL players wouldn't last one game of Rugby (either code) without armour. For a start, they'd have to make and take tackles "naked" and play continuously for two spells of 40 minutes, with only a 10 minute break at half-time.
