We remember back in the GOP/Tea Party primaries when the Presidential candidates reminded Romney that Romney has never run a business, created no jobs, raised taxes and bankrupted Massachusetts ... raising fees on crippled people is not a tax increase ?

Dukakis himself only released 6 years of tax returns ?

Romney .... the return of FIFI ... fee after fee after fee to balance the budget ~ Tim Russert back in 2002

That is what happens when you have to work with a Democrat legislature.

I like fees for services as opposed to everyone bearing the burden

oh, and 4.7% is a pretty darn good number

"A surplus in tax revenue, after all, means that taxpayers have been overcharged," the president said. "And usually when you've been overcharged, you expect to get something back." -Bush 43

What was Romney supposed to do?

He was left with a horrible mess when he took over and had to fix it somehow. He also closed loopholes for business which effectively raised their tax rate 85%. The fees were avoidable if you didn't want to pay them but with a democratic legislature he had little choice.

Given all that, he still found a way to get rid of their deficit. The man should be commended.

In the case of ROmeny/Massachusetts, revenues didn't increase, as much as SPENDING WAS CUT.

The LEgislature of the State of MAssachusetts was free to do whatever they chose with the surplus his budgetary discipline created.

So now, we're pretedning that effective leadership, and a surplus, are "bad"?

    Hilarious, the obamites..aren't they?

Just answer the question ... did or did not Romney raise fees for crippled & blind people under the guise of not raising taxes ... further, if crippled and blind didn't or couldn't pay the fees .... were they denied services ?

Exactly how voter-suppression works ... but on steroids.

The governor crafts the budget, then uses leadership to get it passed through the legislature.

You know how democrats like to put riders on bills, probably couldn't veto it or cause other greater problems.

Mike the Tyke in his Macaca moment. I was walking through a bar and talking about how he might have a chance when I looked up at the TV and just started laughing. Everybody asked me what was so funny and I could only point and say: He just lost! It's a moment etched forever in my brain!

According to baseline budgeting that the left uses to scream about "cuts" at the federal level, Romney's cuts were "draconian". Live by the baseline, die by the baseline. Suck it up .

Exactly. To illustrate, if we grew the Federal Budget by only 1% per year, it would be in balance in five years.
