So once again the pollsters oversample Democrats. Should each of these polls be allowed to be passed off as equal when the numbers already favor the left? Will the news networks ever expose a poll when they oversample a particular party over another?

Most of the top political polls that got the 2016 presidential race dead wrong are continuing to use a flawed methodology in rating President Trump's approval ratings that favors Democrats, women and younger voters, according to a new analysis.

The report shows that the mainstream polls oversample an average of 29 percent more Democrats than Republicans and the results skew anti-Trump. The result is that it robs Trump of about 8 points in his approval ratings, from 46 percent to 38 percent, it said.

And, said the report from Bombthrowers.com, one outfit, the Economist, used 58 percent more Democrats than Republicans in a recent poll on Trump's approval ratings.

"In every poll, Democrat respondents outnumbered Republicans by significant amounts. The Economist poll was the worst. Only 24 percent of respondents (360) were Republicans compared to 38 percent (570) Democrats – which means that 58 percent more Democrats were polled than Republicans, as shown in the %D/R column. On average, in these seven widely recognized national polls, only 29 percent (409 people) of the total 1,383 polled were Republicans, while 37 percent (518) were Democrats. Another way of saying it is that, on average, 29 percent more Democrats than Republicans were polled," wrote James Simpson, an economist, businessman and journalist.

Polls are used to drive public opinion, not reflect it.

Exactly. So these polls are biased to drive public opinion away from Republicans and Trump by oversampling democrats to give a false narrative on public sentiment.

Yes, they are for followers. And for headlines. And for bias confirmation. Seriously, what independent-minded well-informed person has ever changed their position because of a poll??

You just asked and answered your own question :)

They are after the ignorant morons who don't pay attention and want to sway their opinion and there are a hell of a lot more of those people than the informed.

Well, according to plenty of the left-wingers here, all it took was a couple of posts by Russians on Facebook to flip Hillary supporters over to Trump's side and give him the presidency. It doesn't speak well of their dedication to Hillary/Dems if all it took was a couple of Facebook posts to make them switch sides. Maybe those are the same people who need polls to tell them how they should think :p

When pollsters launch a survey, they’ll often try to interview more people from underrepresented groups so they’ll end up with a large enough samples to draw real conclusions. Before they report the results, they’ll rebalance the sample to bring it back in line with the overall demography of the population—negating the inflationary effect of the oversample.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, polls can show you what YOU want them to show. As evident by the “Trump approval ratings at 20, 30, 40% etc etc etc”

The division over Trump is so stark that it would seem to be impossible to find rational evaluation. I try to be rational in my thinking, but two things have become in-your-face obvious: Polls about Trump stopped being meaningful when they said Hillary had a better than 90% probability of winning, and anything Democrats do or say is wrong since they lost their minds on election night.

    1. This is an ~5 month old article. Not current event. You tried this yesterday and your thread got moved,

    http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/fake-polls-how-cnn-and-abc-are-fudging-the-numbers-to-tank-trump’s-favorability.524233/#post-1068571840

    2. The article uses an opinion blog.

    3.

This conspiracy was debunked by multiple pollsters, and their actual accuracy records.

The 2016 National election polls were accurate though.

Which is why this thread is false. The blog the OP uses falsely states they were inaccurate. This is why you don't listen to blogs.

But their public sentiment measure was accurate for 2016. 2012. 2008. 2004. What changed?

    Citation needed.

Last I checked, the major national pollsters are usually correct for the public sentiment,

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e...s/general_election_trump_vs_clinton-5491.html
    https://realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national.html
    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pollster-ratings/

Oh wait nevermind, garbage thread moved to Opinion and Beliefs.

Looks like you don't need citation anymore. Lucky you. I'm out lol.

The polls are intended to influence public opinion rather than accurately report on it. Thats how lefties do.

I hear this excuse all the time coming from conservative who post here “Colleges are all liberal!” they chant. Why? Are conservatives too ignorant to teach or operate collages?

“The MSM are all liberal!” they cry. Are conservatives too ignorant to operate a TV camera.

“Polling companies are all liberal!” They wail. It’s like conservatives can’t figure out how to dial a phone or operate a clipboard. Sad.

Of course they do! I have personally received at least six survey calls and right after you answer the "What party do you feel you most recognize with" and right after the Conservatives there is a "click" and survey is over LMFAO :)
