If he was god he'd have cured cancer by now, so I wish he WAS god! Your god is not compassionate enough to snap his all-powerful fingers and give us the cure for cancer. Innocent children die from cancer each day....innocent children.

Wrong - God/Jesus (many verses say that Jesus IS god) of the Bible COMMITTED/APPROVED of genocide - the "flood" is one example. That psycho massacred not only virtually all of our fellow humans, but (allegedly) virtually all (completely innocent!) animals. God/Jesus' genocide killed more than even Hitler's genocide did. A genocidal maniac (God/Jesus) would not get rid of genocide in the world, when he's one himself.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! If his all-knowing and all-powerful deity is "nonsensical and illogical", then his deity would obviously just have been invented/made-up (by mortal humans.)

And yet you completely discount the total wickedness of mankind, hence the need for Judgement by the Flood. Contrary to your flawed belief, mankind IS damaged by sin and in need of redemption.

If they can have a magical invisible 2000 year-old dead guy who lives up in the sky and magically listens to everybody's thoughts and prayers, then they are capable of believing ANYTHING!

And that's the whole point unbelievers miss. Just because God is good, and He is, doesn't mean that he will magically take away all pain, sickness, affliction, and other bad things. A believer's greatest periods of growth CAN be during times of affliction. Romans 8:28 talks about ALL things working together for the good of them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose. I think instead of blaming God, or even doubting His existence when bad things happen, look to Him for comfort. A line from the movie "Courageous" says it best when the pastor was consoling Adam for the loss of his 9YO daughter, " God does not guarantee and explanation, but He does promise to see us THROUGH the pain". When a person looks to God, the question should not be "why?" but " what are you teaching me"?

    http://www.joniandfriends.org/jonis-corner/jonis-bio/

Her story speaks for itself. After an horrific diving accident left her a quadriplegic at just 17 years of age, she had two choices to make. Either blame and curse God, or rest in His love and grace and trust Him for His will in her life. To date, Joni is a master painter/sketch artist, composer, vocalist, disability advocate, and wife. How many people can accomplish that with all the challenges that Joni faces day to day?

Then what is the point of this God thingy....and why is it a he?

I can learn without it, and it seems to be a distraction when doing so.

He is neither male nor female. We just use the generic term. The POINT was, and still is, for a believer, God sees us through all the pain and misery this sin cursed world brings us. Knowing there is a much more than this world has to offer.

Not willpower, but ONLY by God's grace. As to her accomplishments, God gave her the desire to serve Him through her in these ways despite her disability

That's not entirely fair. Junk science that contradicts Scripture is what is rejected. As to reason and critical thinking, again, God never wants mind-numbed robots. His people freely and openly entered into a relationship with Him through His Son. Such people as George Washington Carver, Sir. Isaac Newton, and even prominent pediatric surgeon C. Everett Koop, MD all had this in common, they worshipped the Sovereign God of Creation.

Got it...must be annoying to rely on someone (something) intangible for happiness. Go for it though.

Weird....I have a debilitating incurable dis-ease and rely on this non-existent will power to stay positive. I guess God is taking care of me but I don't know it. If I ask him do you think he can give me one of those cool miracle things?

Happiness is finite. It comes and it goes. What the Disciple of Christ experiences are joy, peace, and contentment. You cannot get that on your own. And a believer's joy, peace, and contentment is not dependent on life circumstances.

Like I said, it's all about faith. Faith in a God who is very real, faith in His Son who can redeem you from the penalty of sin, and faith in His Spirit to see you THROUGH some of the most difficult circumstances. And the hope we have is not "oh I hope this or hope that". It is the promise of Heaven waiting for us not because of anything we do, but because of what God has done for us. As Darth Vader stated "I find your lack of faith disturbing". A little tongue in cheek humor, but that's the basic idea.

Damn...I guess my joy, peace, and contentment are a fluke. I guess I better enjoy it while I have it.....oh that's right....I ALREADY DO.

But it will be taken from you when life's circumstances become unbearable. Only the believer in Christ has those attributes that cannot be taken away by anything, not even the enemy of mankind, Satan.

Yeah....see the thing is. I tend to rely on things that can be seen and felt when planning my existence. I also do not tend to believe things I cannot study or even imagine....like this invisible heaven place.
