https://news.gallup.com/poll/268094/millions-lost-someone-couldn-afford-treatment.aspx About 34M American adults had a friend or family member die in the last 5 years due to not being able to afford healthcare they knew they needed! Some of this is attributable to cost of drugs. When asked whether someone in the household was prescribed drugs by a physician in the last 12 months, but wennt without due to inability to afford the drugs, the number responding in the affirmative rose by 4% just between last January and last September!! It went from 18.9% to 22.9%. And, that affected females TWICE as much as males. It's time to get to work on this. Our healthcare system is just not serving us.
Stats are fun... this one made me quit reading and know this was created for partisan attacks. "About 34M American adults had a friend or family member................" That right there is an intellectually dishonest statement as many of those people know the same person that has.................... whatever. If that metric came from Gallup, the employee that approved releasing it should be fired. It means nothing. It's about emotion. It's not a real metric.
They die because they are too stupid to use the Government system in place right now. There are two separate but not equal systems. If your in Medicaid (MediCal in Calif), you have to be seen specific doctors and facilities. Most likely not the ones you'd like go to. I think that's what rubs them the wrong way. Why should WE get excellent service quickly when we work for our health insurance and they have to wait because they don't work for theirs but want the same service. Universal Health Care gives crappier health care to folks that work hard for better care now, and more expedient care for those that don't or won't work for theirs. It's typical class envy, they want what you have without working for it. https://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/ Health care is available to the poor and folks with no insurance, you'll just have to stand in line to get it. I know, I went 7 years with no health insurance. I went to the County Health Center for regular stuff and the County Hospital if I needed anything else. Did I have to wait in line...yep. Did it suck...yep. But, I wasn't in a position for full time employment and company sponsored health care. Am I now...yep. I work hard for a Cadillac Health Plan at the age of 61 with disabilities. If I can still work after being run over by a 28,000 lb Armored Truck on the highway at 55 mph, for those that simply can't there is SSI Disability/Medicare. For those that won't, go wait in line at the County, you'll get care.
Adding illegals wont help things. And I just saw that the homeless in LA are dying at a very fast rate.
