I'm trying to find out if there are any veteran's organizations that help with the paperwork to get into the VA system. The situation is this: My father was in the VA system years ago and saw a VA doctor as his regular physician. Now he's suffering some cognitive decline and can no longer take care of himself. To that end, we've gotten nursing at home help, but I understand that the VA offers a special pension to compensate for at home care. However the paperwork is daunting. Are there organizations I could go to to help on that end?

I am guessing that if you went to a VFW or American Legion you could probably find someone to point you in the right direction.

I am working with AMVETS now for my disability application. The rep I am working with is very knowledgeable with the system.
