Didn't even last a month, and progs tried to claim Truth Social was a failure. First Disney, then Cuckflix, now CNN. The woke mind virus is wiping out literally billions upon billions of dollars and I'm loving every minute of it. I'd say put Chris Wallace on suicide watch.... but clearly there's no one to do the watching bhahahahahahahah!!!

And where is the evidence for this cause and effect? More likely this is the result of an intensely competitive market with many new streaming services coming online. I would imagine their projections changed based on a changing market. Otherwise they wouldn't have dropped it so quickly.

Too many players. A saturated market. Not enough profit. Basic economics.

It is far more profitable to have people screaming at the camera, spreading conspiracy theories, and praising putin, like on Fox. This is what the right wing completely misses. Real news is relatively boring. So it gets low ratings.

It was a bad idea that never had a chance.
At least, CNN had the brains to cut their losses.
Trump is still embarrassing himself with the "Truth" app.

Dumb and Dumber - about $250 million in revenues worldwide

The most intelligent movie ever made, Primer - $840,000 in revenues worldwide.

Literally everywhere. The demographics most susceptible to the woke mind virus are usually at the lowest ends of the wealth spectrum. Legions of woke kids and prog minority groups might dominate social media where their obnoxious group-think voice is a thundering force indeed, but these people are typically not carrying a lot of disposable income to spend on something like news. Plus the more extreme prog wokies don't turn to CNN anyways because they view it too tame. (Side note: Look into the far-left alt-media if you want to see some truly dangerous radicalizing ****.) So who does that leave to pay the bills? Moderates who's objections to the insertion of radicalized ideology into all aspects of culture have been growing and they are tired of being dismissed.

CNN bet that their revenue stream would just continue to put up with woke. Disney and Netflix made similar mistakes. These wont be the last giants to suffer the consequences of pushing this moronic ideology on a revenue source that has been quite vocal about not wanting it.

Some have suggested that CNN+ was over faster than some of Jeffrey Toobin's Zoom Calls.

    Great move Chris Wallace!

    of course the truth is

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/21/media/cnn-shutting-down/index.html

"The decision was made by new management after CNN's former parent company, WarnerMedia, merged with Discovery to form Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this month."

they merged and already have a streaming platform now with Discovery..... they don't need two

Anybody doing that is not a good idea, honestly. There is far too much freely available competition.

this has nothing to do with going broke.

It had to do with the merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia. Granted, I should have waited until the merger was complete before launching the streaming service. But the CNN execs decided to launch the streaming service before the merger was completed. Hence, why it was shut down due to competing business interests and Discovery already has a streaming service. So my guess after the merger and the shutdown of CNN plus, those CNN programs will get on Discovery Plus, which is already well established. And that is less risky.

The whole "get woke go broke" meme is 99% nonsense and has nothing to do with this. They had no viable product. It was the Trump Steaks of streaming services.

'News' outlet that cant attract new viewers, or keep the ones they have, throws up paywall and continues to lose views at such an alarming rate that even when they gave away the service for free at launch no cared. Politicos and save-face spin are blaming everything from Trump to mergers to Putin but the market doesn't give a **** about any of that nonsense. The market wants profitability and CNN+ had none, zero, zip.

Streaming services are very competitive. Even Netflix is losing customers because they are not granting shared passwords to unrelated parties. That being said, this is nothing more than a business sacrifice of a merger between two competing management styles and objectives. As I said, I would not be surprised to see CNN content now on Discovery Plus, Discovery's streaming service. And Fox Nation has not been exactly forthcoming on its subscriber numbers either, which begs the question whether or not Fox Nation streaming service is suffering the same drawbacks as all the other streaming services.

The left can make all the excuses it wants. Viewership was awful. Less than 10,000 daily.

They pulled the plug because nobody subscribed to the wokeness.

It had nothing to do with viewership whatsoever. When the merger was completed, the decision to pull the plug was based on competing for management styles and objectives. As I said, I would not be surprised to see CNN content on the Discovery Plus streaming service in the near future. We will first see series such as Anthony Bordain's series, United we Fall series, and a few others with eventually, the news opinion programs on the site.

If they had a million subscribers, they wouldn't have pulled the plug. It always comes down to money, and in this case... a massive loss.
