Hi all,

Just to say that I have messaged Falena to close my account. It was great chatting to you all over the last few years.

I've received some bizarre moderation over these years which has made me scratch my head, so I feel it's best to move on.

I'd say no, as there's nothing to be done about it.

I doubt it. Staff is, IMO, not so much biased to the left or the right as it is obsessed with the trappings of civility.

 

I support the mods in what they do. Their decisions seem to be based on the rules, which are there for all to see. They respond civilly to queries, and while I might not always agree, I accept that they acted responsibly. Don't forget, they're giving their time here.

 

Na, but do remember moderators have a crap job, no matter what they do someone will get pissed at them, a large part of the problem of what they have to deal with is where someone cannot debate a comment that a person disagrees with, so instead of digging deeper into the facts to actually debate the thread, that person hits the "hey mod" button.

It's like crying to mommy after taunting someone in the school yard and the person being taunted paints the pavement with the person doing the taunting.

I have a few years of being a mod on CompuServe, before AOL ruined it, back then we weren't called mods, we where known as sponsors, and I quickly learned early on if I removed or edited a post, I would soon receive an IM accusing me of supporting the "other side, or being a paid censor, or worse."

And also keep in mind, moderators are not being paid six figure incomes to do their job, in fact most of them are volunteers and they are human and sometimes make mistakes.

As such if you feel you have been wronged by a mod, contact that mod via. IM (never on an open post) and explain why you feel you have been wronged by the mod, in most cases, if you are polite the problem can be worked out, and while your removed post will not be brought back to life you can repost it within the guidelines the mod will provide you with.

Bottom line with any forum is, you are a guest, as a guest you have zero First Amendment rights, if you start tearing the place up, don't bitch when you find yourself in the alley behind the forum laying in a dumpster with a boot-print on your fanny.

 

When a mod gets criticized from both side of the aisle it means they are doing the job right.

 

Actually not right or left, just doing their job properly.

 

Just take a break....I did so when receiving unjust moderation and waited for the points to expire. Upon return I simply do not contribute as I did to avoid further infraction and so far so good. This place is pretty good and you have friends here so consider that as well.....you are appreciated in this community which is somewhat rare. Likely you had a run in with Lee and that is unfortunate, but he is not this forum so please reconsider.

 

I had a thread closed and two uploads deleted over the last day or so.
And the moderator gave me some alerts but no name.
I do hope @Falena gets her boys calmed down.
Over recent weeks, I have encouraged several to write her of these frustrations.
Hopefully, more who share them will do so now.
